Guest guest
Hi Phil, Wow what a great vid...........my daughter is on the spectrum, yet she can be very profoundly self-aware at times (does that make sense?). A couple weeks ago she said " Daddy, there's something wrong with my brain, I don't think like other kids. " She's 8, by the way. I reassured that different is definitely not " wrong " and I see the difference in this video for sure. Yet the gulf that separates her from " NT " girls her age is all too apparent to her, sadly so. Keep up the great work, Lee ________________________________ To: Autism_in_Girls Sent: Saturday, October 25, 2008 6:41:14 AM Subject: Autism Breaking The Pattern Video http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=90Il9FS9bEw
Guest guest
Phil you are of the first true NT person who got into teh world of autism so uniquely and so correctly. I to be of a pattern girl all of life. If not for the patterns would not be of able to connect to the world at all around me. they are my sources of navigatioins to the human world outside of self. no ine ever explained what goes on in my thinking as well as you.... thank you so much for doing this. I to be fo a water sifter of my hands and can do this for much of a bath time and it migh seem of like nonsense things to the outsider but to me it is of art. In my speakings/book I to say, " I to see life as art and see human kind as poetry " I to speak about the crystal world a world that I to felt safe and loved to be in and embracing before became of school age. once of school age it was very evident I to went to a frustrated girl who was of not able to do well among the human world and was seen as ressistive , behavioral, and things of this, but it was of so strong a fear because that world did not make of sense to me but the school work at times did because of the patterns not because of the internal intellectual awareness of things learned. so it didnot bring building blocks intelectuallay or cogntively for me. being locked away much of life due to these needs for patterns to survive my world was ripped from me over and over and left me empty . I to often wondered if was nderstood and supported as a child what gifts were of being born with in me and extinguished away from em fro lack of support and care to me in them. I to also be of to know of a young severely autsitic young girl who was of also blind, a very gifted child to music. but she too would sit on the play ground by her self and sift small pebble stones. I to often wondered of it because for me it was of a visual play and art but for her she could not see and so I to wondered of it and not maybe think it was the music she heared in this too. this si of why when people want to extingusih things in us I to tell of them to make sure they understand what they are of extingusihing because it migh be of that childs only way to communicate or learn in this life.... the only things I to add is that parents need to make sure their is of a good healthy balance for the child to connect to the world in this way of art and patterns and then of to also learn of ways to connect and be of social in fashions that reaches the human world outside of us for success in that life too because if you leave us always into the one or the other it leaves us not balanced and gaining from both parts of our lives. If we are forced to leave of our world to join of you own world yes so much does it destroy things within us thatothers do not understand and it does impact our outcomes over the emotional states of us, but if we are of left to self endulge all day and every day into our own world and no tbe of requested to join of the human world we can lose out of other life gifts of people. not all people will be of good for us but some will be and if we do not connect to the human world we lose out of knowing those who will be of good for us. again thank you for having this gift to see our perspective in such profound ways and have of the words to match and explain it to others in ways they can get of it about us with autism. sondra
Guest guest
Hi Sondra, I love reading your descriptions of how you experience the world. I'm kind of new to this group and look forward to more. You help me to better understand the children I work with, and how to help them bridge the 2 worlds. ~S > > Phil you are of the first true NT person who got into teh world of > autism so uniquely and so correctly. Guest guest
sky gal thanks so much for the words to me. I to wonder waht sort of jobs yo do and also noted you are of new. it isof sad that new have come to this list in the midst of a few who are of struggling to communicate and connect to various views. some see things one ways and others see things differently. I to think they need to learn of the elephant things and the blind men...... this might help if they were to all rotate and see the issues from different angles and perspectives. I to just woke froma short sleep and then woke but need to get of self back to the bed and try of to find sleep again or will be of the grumpy teary eye girl in the AM. sondra
