Ah Carol,

I am so blessed to have friends like you here. It makes these trying days a

little more tolerable. You DID get a chuckle from me. I am better than I

was on Monday. It just takes a little while for everything to sink in.

The pain is intolerable at times. He has put me back on the higher dose of

pain medicine, doesn't want me to get too much Tylenol with the codeine.

Can't blame him for that. As much as I hate to admit it, I know what he is

doing is according to protocol. When I first saw him 3 weeks ago and things

became escalated, I told him just take off the remaining parts of my patella.

Well, logically thinking, if you break your arm, they don't cut it off.

They set it, immobilize it and give you pain medicines if it is not displaced

and see what the human body can do to mend it by myself. He is giving my

body the full 6 weeks of conservative treatment and he says then we will go

back to surgery. So, he knows that my body is not going to do any special

feats of healing, but there is that possibility and he is trying to make me

as comfortable as possible. I am just one who likes instant resolution and

this is not one of those situations. So I must just tread water and wait and

see what if anything, my body can do. In my case, there is mental

preparation for the surgery because I have been such a frequent flyer. An

open procedure means hospital incarceration, pain and rehab. Been there,

done that, got a shirt! It will be done at West Boca Medical Center which as

you know, is a ways from home for me.

I just hate the thought of having another surgeon going in there to give his

two cents, when I have this guys. You just lose so much control with this

disease and no warning is EVER given! I have been up since 4:30 am with

abdominal pain which needs surgical attention, so I have been filling myself

with various medications and while I was on my way to get the meds, my knee

gave out while in the cast. What a weird feeling. You feel like you are

going to fall, yet this contraption, says, " Nope, I don't think so " . I can't

fight with what I see going on here.

OK, enough boring stories about me. Got any big plans for the holiday, you

party gal?????? Celebrating the 4th with a fifth????? Yes, I know, that joke

is old!!!!! The girls are having some friends over for a cookout and

swimming. So as long as the weather holds out, it should be fun for them.

My part is all this is merely the director. Kinda neat, bossing everyone

around! Come nightfall, from my front yard, we can see the fireworks from

Sunrise, Tamarac and Plantation. So no need to fight crowds for us. This

afternoon, I am sending the girls out to look for an Uncle Sam hat for me!

Thanks for the early AM chuckle, my friend and if I start a list for doctor

butt kicking, you will be #1! Have a pain free, safe and wonderful holiday

to you and yours!

Talk to you soon.........

Gentle, tender, patriotic angel hugs,

Deb

Hi Debs,

Why do you have to have surgery in West Boca? That's a long drive. It

certainly makes it harder for people to come and visit. It seems ridiculous

that you have to endure 6 weeks of pain just to make sure it won't heal on

it's own, especially under these circumstances. Does he really think it

will heal? Seems pretty doubtful to me. Oh well. At least he is trying to

keep you comfortable in the meantime.

My stepsons (twin 13 year olds, yikes!) are coming in town this afternoon

from Salt Lake City. It's become a tradition that Dad blows about $300 on

fireworks from Alabama, and we have a picnic at our business location with

some of our clients and employees. They just love the fireworks, and I

think my husband gets the biggest thrill of all. Of course, I have to make

sure the house is spotless and everything is perfect for the picnic, and I'm

sore and swollen from all the work I've done. I wonder if I'll ever learn?

No fifth on the fourth for me, though. LOL I can't with the Methotrexate.

I am just sticking with my hot dog on my wheat free bread. :-) Party animal

for sure!

Enjoy your role on the 4th. Supervising should be fun, and let your family

take care of you. You've certainly been taking care of them for a long

time.

And the offer to kick butt still stands! ;-)

Love,

Carol

I really enjoy reading your messages. I am going to go back over

some of them on some of my bad days, especially those when I am

feeling sorry for myself, they are good pick me ups. Thanks for

being there.

Debs-

I agree with Louise. Not only do I know how to spell

Lawsuit...i've even filed a few and think yours has

merit ( unlike Stella Awards). Only problem is I

work with low income folks and am not licensed in

Fla - but cabana boys might be motivation. Hugs again.
