Guest guest
hi there... this headline reminds me of a few months ago when kathleen turner was being interviewed on cnn by paula bomb...heheh paula zahn...and kathleen was there for national arthritis month...and paula says to kathleen...so you put on some weight and that's how you knew you had RA..well my cheerios flew across the room...and then in a way i realized there is no national poster that i am aware for RA....i knew nothing about all the forms of arthritis til thrust amidst it....and paula was as uniformed as i had been....so humbly gathered my cheerios...and just felt kinda sad about it all.... however kathleen turner proceeded to straighten her out and bring awareness to ra...but she mentioned the fatigue being so brutal...and of course unless you are in the fatigue you cant grasp the concept of " " " ..well i am fatigued... " " " " anyhow just a share.... hugs sam.. Guest guest
Kathe, I must agree with you. No one knows how it feels to walk in our shoes. My Dad suffered all of his adult life with severe RA and not knowing much and him not complaining much, left us with no understanding of what he was truly going thru. It is only now that I truly appreciate how well he hid this disease and the ugliness from us. He is gone now, but he becomes my hero more and more each day. How I wish we knew more back then! Guest guest
hi its me teresa again.....ya know i have been diagnosed for almost 3 years now and i keep hearing about other things other than joint pain...i guess i need to do a little more searching. i am un-educated with the disease other than i hurt a lot in joints. i so far have not been happy with my dr.s. they make me feel as though i complain about stupid things and make mountains out of mole hills. of course with my husband being active duty army i am limmited to certain docs. i thought i would get excelent care since i went to D.C. to walter reed hosp. the best in the army. i feel let down......thanks for leting me vent........love teresa
Guest guest
Hi Sam: Yes, I heard a while ago that Kathleen had been diagnosed with RA and was going right to Embrel - hadn't heard anything since. Glad to know that she is trying to bring up some awareness of the disease - it's about time. Like you, I had no idea what RA was really all about. My grandmother had it most of her life and was crippled by it, but I always assumed it was " just joint " problems. We never really asked here anything about it - knew she was treated with gold shots and other meds but that was about it. Now I can empathize more with what she must have had to go through with all the other problems that come with RA and it was harder for her with the lack of treatment options. Unbelievable how many different forms of arthritis there are and how little anybody really knows about it unless they or someone they know have it - and even then you can't really understand unless you have it yourself.
