Guest guest
Wondering if someone can help me? I refrigerated my KT with the scoby still in it about 2 wks ago.. Now I want to take it out and use it again to make a new batch... What is the steps to doing this so it works-activates again? thanks so much
Guest guest
Just take it out of the fridge and put it on the counter Really it's that easy. The rise in temperature will wake up our little friends. If the KT is really mature it doesn't have much sugar (food for the SCOBY), just add new tea (smaller amounts over several days is better than a lot all at once). - Woody Subject: Refrigerated Scoby?? Guest guest
thanks...I may not have asked my questions right..sorry I only want to use " some " of the Kombucha from last batch and the scoby to make a completely NEW batch.. I no longer want to make it with black tea or green tea.. but I am wanting to try it out with " Rooibos tea " . Which I have learned by researching online that it will work as well " BUT " this is the good part... it has not got the Oxalic acid and tannins or caffeine in it that the other teas do. So could I just then take out the scoby and a cup of kombucha and put it in a new batch of sweetened and cooled off Rooibos tea, and will it still work? thanks again I appreciate this group alot. bless > > > Subject: Refrigerated Scoby?? > To: original_kombucha > Date: Wednesday, April 25, 2012, 10:40 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > Wondering if someone can help me? > > > > I refrigerated my KT with the scoby still in it about 2 wks ago.. > > > > Now I want to take it out and use it again to make a new batch... > > > > What is the steps to doing this so it works-activates again? > > > > thanks so much > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Sorry i didn't know you were asking about brewing kombucha with rooibos. I don't have personal experience but have heard of folks successfully using roo tea. I've also seen warnings about using herbal or other teas WRT long term SCOBY health, but again i'm only reporting from research not experience. If possible keep a spare SCOBY and try brewing with roo for a few batches. And please report back to us you results! - Woody Subject: Re: Refrigerated Scoby??
