Guest guest
My daughter & I live in an apartment...have been here 5 years. We really like it cause even though our address is Portland which is a big city, we are waaaaaay on the outskirts where you can still see cows and horses and trees! There has been a dispute going on between two other families for the past few months. We have been friendly with both and not at all involved in the problem. It's all over a handicap parking spot. Now our assigned parking spots are almost always VERY close to our front doors. However, one of the neighbors both broke is foot and found out he has a debiitating muscle condition that is progressive. The lady from the other family almost always uses the handicap spot though her assigned spot is right next to it. The fellow with the leg problem's spot is one that is over farther. He went to her and told her about his problem, and asked if it'd be ok if he used the handicap spot for about a month til his brace came off. The other lady blew a HUGE fuse...using the foulest language, raising her voice, insisting she would use the %^!$#@ handicap spot all she wanted (she does have a permit). Well, that was the start of it. Everything I've seen of the injured fellow and his wife has been positive...even when the other gal goes ballistic they have remained calm and peaceable. So, if the handicap spot happens to be empty and the fellow uses the handicap spot, the other gal has a tizzy fit, turns her car alarm off & on, swears, etc. So lovely. And here Em & I are...right n the middle, trying to live a peaceful co-existance with everyone. Well, last night that lady crossed the line. We have said NOTHING to her and not been involved in any of this except what is heard through the neighborhood grapevine. Well, my daughter Em, who has a mild-moderate learning disability, is 24, works hard at Safeway, is one of the sweetest people around, was walking home from the pool last night and this " lady " peers out her window at my daughter and calls her " RETARD! " GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Poor Em was just crushed. I did my best to comfort & reassure her. I also reported this to the office - this woman is 40 years old - not a child, though I know some people never grow up. Now Em is nervous about walking by their apartment. Now I am a nice person...a faith-filled, praying person, who tries very hard to give everyone the benefit of the doubt unless proven otherwise. But today I have had MANY impulses... egging her car toilet papering her car throwing firecrackers under her car dumping a pail of water on her as she walks out of her apartment slappin' her along side the head eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! Rest assured I won't do any of that but my o my she better not hurt my daughter again! My kids always remind me of the time this snotty teenage boy was throwing rocks at their bedroom window about midnight for several nights in a row scaring the peewadin out of my girls. One night I had HAD it so I grabbed my cane and hobbled to his house after midnight to speak to his mother in my moo-moo!!!!! My Lord that must have been a sight!!!! Oh, well, just had to get that out! Say a prayer...ok? Tess...aka Momma Bear
