Guest guest
hi stills family - well this vacation has just been one adventure after another. First, in Seattle, my best and dearest friend had been sick and of course, after spending a few days with her, I managed to catch what she had. First I that I was having just my standard stuff, just worse, because my temp was 103 from Thurs in Seattle until Sat night (when we got to Maui), but by Sunday morning, I realized I had picked up something in my old hometown and it was in my lungs. I couldn't stop coughing and temp just kept going up. So my doc calls in Leviquin 750mg for 10 days. OK, by Monday night temp is going down everything getting better having a good time (well as much as someone with stills does that hasn't really gone into remission). Wed, my Parents took the car and went to Hana (or almost). My mom fell and twisted both ankles and her knee. Oh and my husbands foot... he somehow hurt it the first day, but he says it's his tendon and it doesn't need to be looked at. So anyway. We stay at the westin villas because before I got really sick and was a VP we bought them (it is actually real estate that you own) so decided to bring my parents for two weeks... anyway Wed afternoon, my left foot is killing me and I know it's broken from walking back and forth from the pools/gazebo) and the rooms we are in - they were suppose to put us closer - I was really mad at them and the Starwood CEO is going to get a letter. I've had stess fracture before and I knew it was at least that. But I was stubborn - until Fri night. It was swollen and throbbing and keeping me up. So off to the ER... yep - bad Stress fracture -close to total fracture - split (they don't totally cast because of swelling, crutches (how is a chronically ill person whose hands, shoulders and back hurt suppose to use crutches I ask?? so we are using two different wheel chairs -- one regular one and one for the beach.... how pathetic.... everyone is healing and having fun but me - I get to watch from the sidelines until I see the ortho doc at home. Then today - moms bd... she gets upset because she heard something wrong, then brought up things from the past... Oy -- if only family's didn't make so much of little things... oy - if only I was Jewish.... well, one more week of vacation, the four of us are having fun. My nephew's wife went into labor today in SC on my mom's bd - we'll see when the baby is born..... The nurse and doctor didn't think it was broken because I told them I could walk to the back treatment room. Then the doctor saw the xrays and couldn't believe and then said it was a bad one too. then both of them said.. boy, you must be use to living in a lot of pain if you did this wed, and just now came in and you don't even want me to give you pain meds or anything. Then going the nurse told me she would have placed a bet that it wasn't broken because I was walking on it like nothing. I guess I missed a good bet. I was there at 2am because it was throbbing more than my back - I knew it was broken. The doc said - wow - you really know your body huh- I said, yeah- Stills is rare, but those of us that fight it pretty much know what is going on when it happens. Hugs to all - keep up the fight It's weird really sitting here watching all these people that are basically normal and healthy play with their family's while I have to sit back most of the time and watch, regardless of the cast on the foot.. very odd. At least I can people watch and think about life. Before this happened -I was doing most of the same thing - not much but watching others, but now, everyone sees something on me and wants to know what happened. What a shallow world really if you think about it that a cast on a foot makes a person stop and talk but the same person wouldn't stop and ask me if I was ok the day before when I was sicker or just as sick... Guest guest
... I hate that you are having to go through all of this. Try to enjoy the scenery as much as possible. I hope things get better for you. Take care of yourself... Angelia ville,AR
Guest guest
Thanks - it could always be worse and I enjoyed a nice bd dinner with my mom (it's her birthday and now it's my great nieces birthday who was born when we were eating dinner). It's just frustrating because I find the crutches make my wrists/shoulders and back bad. But nothing lasts forever
