Guest guest
Does anyone have any ideas on effectively lobbying one's HMO or State Legislature on how to get certain meds covered that aren't currently covered? Case in point: My HMO (Group Health of WA State) won't cover Celebrex as they say it doesn't work any better than Ibuprofen (to which I and at least 1 other RA patient I know say BS!!) I count myself among the lucky ones because my PCP is getting me gobs of Celebrex from her drug rep, but I want to advocate on behalf of those not so lucky. I feel very strongly that Celebrex is giving me my life back and I want others to be able to get the drug from their HMO's w/out having to jump through hoops, because clearly it works for some of us who have RA!!! Any suggestions on how I can work the system to get this and other helpful, life- altering meds covered by insurance?? W/out Celebrex I feel I wouldn't be able to put in the long hours I've been able to in the last 6 weeks!! And I need to be able to work!! (you know that ole self esteem issue and all...LOL!!
