Hi ,where I live is the suburbs and people are pretty good about taking

their garbage to a designated area. Downtown is terrible and I have an appt on

Monday and Tuesday smack dab downtown to my rheumy and the foot xray lab. This

will be a direct trip there and back,no stopping for shopping or food as we

usually do. I am terrified of catching some awful germ. Last night on the news

it showed a low income apartment building with garbage piled high and rats

running around,it freaked me out. It is disgusting that in a big city like

Toronto, that this would be allowed to happen. Political parties are fighting

legislation that would order these workers back to work,so no end is in sight

for at least 3 more weeks. The Chief Medical officer keeps saying there is no

health threat. Well maybe not to her but don't tell me that this is not a

dangerous situation for a whole lot of innocent people.

So,as much as I would love to have you here for a visit, now would not be a good

time. However, once we get out city clean again, anyone on the list is welcome

for a visit.

Hugs

June

Oh, that's disgusting, June. I'm glad that in your immediate area things

aren't as bad as in the city. Many years ago, I worked for the now

non-existent Continental Bank in Chicago doing computer stuff. I worked

in a 24-hour building of theirs (since our banking had to be done 'round

the clock) and, if ever I worked into the night (more often than I would

have liked), I would hurry down the stairs past the garbage can in the

employee parking lot since I could often see rats as big as cats jumping

in and out of the cans with their treats. Scary!

I hope you can make your appointments without incident. Maybe a gas mask

is in order?
