Guest guest
Dear Iris...you have such a wonderful heart...thank you for trying to help that young fellow. They really out-price the common folk for tickets these days! My favorite Beatle's songs...Saw Her Standing There, Norwegian Wood, And I Love Her, I'll Be Back Again... Guess what??? When Lennon was killed, the Portland Oregonian did a big story of course, and included photos and pieces on their 1965 stop here. Guess whose picture was in the paper???? ME!!! There I was, in a daze, wearing my sailor shirt - popular in those days...my hands up in the air!!! I had NO idea there WAS a picture like that. Of course I cut it out, and keep it in my Bible!!!! If we ever have an RA FAmily get-together I'll bring it! My parents were very conservative, but they always encouraged my love of music. The first concert I ever saw was Bobby Dylan & Joan Baez when I was only 12. It was a strange & interesting time...the beatniks were hanging on but the hippies were coming in. I'm sure a lot of the political stuff went over my head! The last song they sang went... " Well, if you gotta go...well it's alright...but if you gotta go, go now...or else you gotta stay all night! " Oh yikes, I was SO embarrassed!!! I've seen Dave 5, Herman's Hermits, Beach Boys, Sonny & Cher, , & , The Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Janis Ian, whoever the group was that originally sang " Gloria " , Revere & The Raiders, the oiginal Broadway cast of " Hair " . Others, too. I took my little sister who was 13, to the Rolling Stones on my 15th birthday. First embarrassing thing was I was all dressed up in a beautiful nehru shirt & white bell-bottoms when I fell down the steps at the colliseum...the security rushed over...I was fine...though red-faced! But what was worse was when Mick Jagger came on stage..I had my LITTLE sister with me, and we had GOOD, ClOSE seats, and let's just say I worse undies under my bell bottoms, Mick DID NOT!!!!! YIKES!!!! MY sis thought it was funny I was so embarrassed. Gee, Iris, thanks for helping me have a happy trip down Memory Lane. Many groovy hugs : ) Tess
