Gotta watch that lithping thing!

Well, I got my computer back, and they put in Windows XP, but when they put in

the hard drive they deleted my games..so no more bookworm or my other faves.

Rats!

I had 250 e-mail to go through, and I read most of them. So, Welcome to the

Newbies. Jody and Mark, ! You've found a soft place to fall. Surrounded

by people with infinite knowledge of SD and all it's foibles

I'm always glad when Kirk posts, we know he's not out irradicating doctors

from the planet! However, perhaps by the process of elimination we could winnow

down to decent docs..not even stellar docs, just pretty good ones! As opposed to

the giant jerks people like Kirk seem to find without trying!

Larry, so sorry that you've been through the mill yet again. Costochronditis

aint no laughing matter..or coughing..or breathing hard...

Glad to " see " our Elly getting back to normal...whatever we perceive that to

be LOL!

As Ell mentioned I managed to get pneumonia (again) this time I was on

steroids, and with my immune system mucked up, and walking Jake every day, I

guess I just wasn't paying attention lol. To think I had the Flu shot and the

Pneumonia shot..and I get it anyway......so next year I will NOT get the shots!

Well, my friends, may the dragon miss you, and the angels find you.

smiles and regards

Glad you are back...

Hope you will stay feeling better now..

I hated when my computer crashed a few years ago...but I got it fixed and then

it went out again last spring....all my pictures and stuff went too =(

...so I bought an Apple MacBook laptop and I really like it...I have the dead pc

upstairs...maybe someday I will try and get it fixed again(before I cremate it)

to get the pictires and stuff off and onto c.d.'s like I should have been

backing it up...

To paraphrase an old theme song from an old television show......

" Welcome back Cat(ter) " , " welcome back, welcome back, welcome back "

I had a real close call one time with my hard drive (by the way

putting the drive in the freezer can help in a recovery process.).

Managed to save everything. First chance I got I found a real good

deal on a USB drive to connect to my laptop. It came with backup

software. Now I save a complete image backup 3 times a week at 3AM.

Each copy overwrites the oldest copy so I do not use up all the space

on the backup drive. That way if one copy is bad I can go the next

oldest. The software also can be run to reload the image on a new

hard drive.

I also have another scheduled backup every night of all the important

files, like spreadsheets, databases, documents, pictures, music, tax

records etc. This keeps track when you create or update the files

and just copies any new ones or ones where changes were made. That

lets me get back single files that may get corrupt.

I was always a little sloppy. I feel much more comfortable now that

I can easily replace anything important.

Diane, PCs are actually very simple to work on..what's wrong with the one

that died? I may be able to help you get it going, at least enough for you

to get what you want off of it.

Kirk,

I will take you up on that offer but I can't even look at the pc till next week

because it is upstairs and I have it there all spread apart not together so I

would have to plug it all together again...

Actually what was happening to it was it was going slower and slower till I

couldnt get it started at times and then the blue screen of death came up...=(

and every time I would try to start it up    the blue screen with white

letters (blue screen of death) came up and turned off to blank

It was a Hewlitt Packard that is about 5ish years old....

(thats about 16.05 in computer years lol) bad joke

Last time it was the fans inside? that stopped and overheated the insides   i

remember the pc repair man saying something about the motherboard or maybe he

just said ''what a mother----??'' I dont know....

But I had a lot of stuff replaced inside and made sure I used the can of air to

spray the insides from dust because there was A LOT before  =(

...and then it died again  soooooooo I wanted a laptop anyways and my son-in-law

and daughter were coming in from Oregon and since they dont have the sales tax

there, i bought it there..saved a few bucks...(and my s-i-l had a little

discount on Apple through his work)

will chat again when i go upstairs and put it together AND when u feel

better...i dont want to put u out

and have u work when u are not feeling good    i can wait  dont worry

...and thank you!

Diane 42

p.s.  i am very computer illiterate so if u ask me something and i say ''doh!''

  dont be surprised...

Diane, PCs are actually very simple to work on..what's wrong with the one

to get what you want off of it.
