Carol,

Lymph nodes often swell when a person has an infection. Even a scratch on

your arm can cause lymph nodes to swell.

This is from http://www.midwestarthritis.com/html/methotrexate.htm

There have been several reports of patients taking methotrexate developing

lymph node tumors (lymphomas). This may be related to an infection with the

Epstein-Barr virus (the same virus that causes mononucleosis). Whether it

was a coincidence that some people taking methotrexate developed lymph node

tumors or whether taking methotrexate makes a person more likely to develop

this problem is unknown. Considering the large number of patients who have

taken methotrexate but not developed this potentially fatal problem, the

risk (if there is one) must be very small. Some patients developing lymph

node tumors have had the tumors go away when the methotrexate was stopped.

Therefore, if you are taking methotrexate and develop swelling of the lymph

glands, stop the methotrexate and contact your doctor.

Here are some links that talk about infection and lymph nodes:

http://www.ship.edu/~shs/swolymph.htm

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003097.htm

You should call your doctor tomorrow, but try not to think the worse. I

know it¹s scary.

hugs,

a

Hi a,

Thanks for all the info. I knew I had read something about lymphomas with

Methotrexate, and that’s why I thought to ask. Oddly enough, the tenderness

and pain are GONE this morning. I took some homeopathic detox drops

yesterday and had some water with lemon. I guess it worked!

I promise if it comes back, even a little, I will call the doctor pronto.

Love and hugs,

Carol
