Guest guest
I've come across two really great books to help those of us struggling to get FAPE in our SD. The first book is called " Disability Deception " by JoAnn which helps parents discover when the SD is telling you a lie. I would have LOVED to have had this 4 years ago when we started the educational process, but am just as excited that I found it when I did. In other words, whether you are just starting this process or have been in the ditches for a LONG time, this book can help you. You can go to Amazon and read the reviews. It also has helpful advice on what to do and where to find valuable information! It was written by a mother with children who have disabilities. She has over 15 years experience in dealing with these issues. The second book is " How well does your IEP Measure Up, " by Diane Twachtman-Cullen & Twactman-Riley. I've really enjoyed this book, as it explains how to write your own IEP with examples. It also has a tremendous amount of useful and pertinent information. As we all know, it is the IEP that drives the services we get, so start writing your own goals/objectives!!! If some of you are wondering what kind of kickback I'm getting for these referrals -- monetary = ZERO. However, I'm more than happy to add a little force to a kick when it comes to fighting for our children
