The tip from Charlotte about the dental collegue is true. My daughter works

for Ohio State University & they

have a separate program that sees patients that get worked by dentist

residents that work under the supervision of the dentist. The fees are about

40,30

% below the cost of the regular dental deptm.

It just takes about 3 weeks longer to get schedule, they also offer low mo.

paymts.

Hope they'll have one there.

my tooth just started aching like crazy on Sunday after cracking about 3

years ago. I called the local dental school and since it's summer time, they are

not taking any new patients - bummer. Just thought I'd let you know that

summer is a bad time to have a tooth ache!

You are so right about summer being a bad time to have a tooth problem. I went

yesterday and the tooth broke off in the crown. They said I have to have a root

canal, post, build up and a new crown. The estimate is $1640. Yeah.... That's

what I said.  Then... they say that they don't offer any type of financing.

Since it's on a front tooth then I definately have to get it fixed. It can't

wait. They can't get me in this week so...I guess I have to stay in and not see

people until I can get it fixed. Now... I have to come up with the money by the

time the appt rolls around to get it fixed. CRAZINESS!!!!  I can feel the stress

on my body.

Dear Angelia ,

I'm sorry that you're having problems too. I didn't go to work all week -

hurting so badly. I was sure it was infected. I called a bunch of dentists and

none would see me cuz I couldn't pay all at one time and I wouldn't qualify

for any kind of financing with my credit as bad as it is.

Well, we went to the dentist that took out Al's tooth back the beginning of

the year and were going to pretend we could pay until it was time to check

out. Well, it only cost $200 to pull so we had that and we didn't have to even

lie, but it did put us back a bit. They did that yesterday, and today it

hurts like H......! Well, the jaw and gums hurt, I don't actually have the

tooth

in my mouth anymore. So that's 2 teeth on the right side gone since I've had

stills. How attractive. Wish I could afford a bridge. Maybe I'll lose some

weight only chewing on one side!

But I asked for the tooth, it looked fine to me - hard to believe it hurt so

bad. I had sold my wisdom teeth on ebay years ago (I know, I'll sell

anything practically), maybe I'll try to sell this one too!

In toothless pain,

Carole from Hollywood FL

Hey Carole and Angelia..and anyone with teeth problems..

Sorry to hear about your pain and loss of teeth...

I am wondering, if you don't have dental insurance, could the tooth removal

maybe be considered under

your regular medical insurance somehow? I mean, it is due to Stills so maybe

they would consider that?

I don't know...

I have been using a tooth paste called Sensodyne Pronamel..It is ''supposed'' to

harden the enamel of your teeth..and protect against acid wear (cokes,

juices.etc...)  I also use a straw for EVERYTHING I drink..yep, even coffee..I

will try anything so as not to have to go to the dentist!!
