In men, Lupron is used to treat advanced prostate cancer (my father-in-law

took it for his cancer), and the drug is used in children who are diagnosed

with central precocious puberty (early puberty) to delay puberty. Those are the

only issues I know of but I think there are more uses.

What is Lupron Therapy?

Lupron therapy was the big announcement USAAA made during the conference?

After reading the below announcement I thought something huge was going to be

announced.

" Dr. C. DeMio, USAAA Chief Medical Officer, will deliver a major

announcement on the development of a program that will provide the highest

standards for biomedical treatment of autism spectrum disorders. "

No, Lupron was not the big announcement - that was just one of the presentations

given about treatment options. This was an EXCELLENT conference on biomedical

treatments in autism - one of the best that I have attended.

The " big announcement " (and yes - there were really press in the room) was Dr.

DeMio introducing a new branch of the American Medical Association called the

American Medical Autism Board. There will now be a governing body for MDs

" proclaiming " to be autism doctors (which I don't think this affects

chiropractors, etc... who are up on the DAN! protocols). A good thing - the

beginning of autism being treated as a medical disorder rather than a mental

disorder.

No lupron has been around a while.

The big announcement was that there will be a new board to certify

biomed doctors. So now you can see a board certified biomed doctor.

Lupron basically shuts down the production of hormones. It is used in

fertility treatment (to shut down the ovulation cycle before beginning

fertility treatment), in breast, ovarian and prostate cancer treatment (also

shutting down the production of " sex " hormones).

It sounds like a pretty radical treatment protocol to me, although I'd be

interested in hearing more about the findings of any tests being conducted.

I've also " been there, done that " ...for treating endometriosis years ago. The

hot flashes were not pleasant!

They also use lupron in children who start to puberty to early. In fact I

used it with my daughter when she started to go into puberty to early.

It is technically classed as a hormone, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone;

it's also used as a neoplastic (a chemotherapy drug).
