Guest guest
As per Dr.Khoury's advice we took Holly for a follow-up xray this past week. Her last suprine xray taken about 8 weeks ago at Children's in Alabama showed a 16 degree curve to the right (RVAD unknown). At that time, Dr. Khoury cancelled the casting and advised us to get another xray in 6 weeks. This was in part based on first xray taken 4 weeks prior to that showing a 38 degree curve. However, this first xray was taken in the standing position and since she was only about 7 months old, i always questionned the validity of this xray. Her most recent xray showed a curve of 27 degrees and an RVAD of 18 (this is the first RVAD score we have received). In sum-first xray standing- 38 degrees, RVAD unknown 1/11/07 second xray-supine-16 degrees, RVAD unknown 2/7/07 third xray-suprine-27 degrees, RVAD 18 4/3/07 Her back is looking better and she no longer has a visible hump on the upper right side, but we can still see a curve. At this point, Dr. Khoury is suggesting casting and we are inclined to agree. Although he did say we could wait another 2 months for another xray if we wanted to. They can get us in for casting on May 1 and she will be almost 11 months old. So point is, like has happened to others on this board, she looked like she was getting better but may actually be getting worse. She did wiggle during this last xray so that has given me a little bit of doubt. Does anyone know if moving during the xray could affect the RVAD score? Also, what are the side views used for, do they have important diagnostic info? She definately did not move during the side xray but moved during her supine xray. I am going to post the xrays in the photos section. Anyone else in Birmingham 4/30-5/2? (mom to Holly 10 months, IS)
