Guest guest
Thanks for this discussion. I have a conventional vet for my beef cattle, and I've let him recommend what to use on my cows, and 4 to 5 month old calves. I've used purchased or rented bulls and was worried about what they might introduce to my herd. I didn't realize the issue existed about the milk or meat from vaccinated animals, but I remember getting one or two consumers ask me if I vaccinated or not. I really hope to transition to a closed herd in the future, particularly with the introduction of cloned genetics and the planned genetic engineering of animals coming down the pike, apparently whether we want them or not. So, I definately would stop vaccinating with a closed herd. The rabies issue is tough, I am in a high rabies area.
