What is cruelty to animals?

3 years ago I was hauled of to gaol and into court because a killed a pair of maurading dogs who were a mile from home when they killed my hens. In order to avoid a felony conviction, I plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge. The summer I bought some calves from a guy who was/is trying do do organic and these calves were very under nourished.
