Guest guest
Hi all, quick question - we've been having some rotten side effects with DMSA - and finished round 6 on Sunday - even now though perky, his cheeks are very flushed and he's come up in a mottled rash all the way up one arm. Any ideas - viral? Cheers, Elaine
Guest guest
>>Amy Yasko says DMSA in antiviral I think. How much does your child weigh? I think I remember you saying 25mg per dose, if you are only on round 6 then you got pretty high pretty quick unless he is a big boy. Sam had lots of rashes but he gets those with yeast flare/die off/GSE and boy oh boy did we have yeast!! I'd be inclined to give him an extra week off and do another round at half the dose you are using now. Doubling the amount of chelator does not double the amount pulled, I always forget how to explain it, maybe Anita or or Rene can recall. Mandi x PS So what side effects other than pale/tired and rash? Guest guest
I don't know how to explain it either Mandi, just know the standard rule is if you get any side effects, drop the dose down. The standard dosing for Dmsa should be 1/8 to 1/2 mg per lb, hope you can convert. No more than that is recommended. At the most we only ever gave our 50 lber at the end was 10 mgs of Dmsa, and she had trouble with that. We had to stop once and get her neutrophils back up. So at the end we were only giving her 5 mgs of Dmsa. Yes, good advice from Mandi, skip a week, give lots of minerals, particularly magnesium and zinc. Takes a long time whether you give a lot of this stuff or just a mite. They might as well be very comfortable. advice on rash re: chelation Hi all, quick question - we've been having some rotten side effects with DMSA - and finished round 6 on Sunday - even now though perky, his cheeks are very flushed and he's come up in a mottled rash all the way up one arm.Any ideas - viral?Cheers, Elaine AOL's new homepage has launched. Guest guest
I have been reading a lot on cortisol.....It stimulates the metallothionein,, the molecule which removes heavy metals form the body. I think the trick is to get this mechanism up and running again (quite a few studies I have read point to adrenal problems in our kids, no surprise there!!) and then DMSA would become moot. Cortisol is good in short bouts but over production leads to problems. I cannot get my head around what exactly long term cortisol production does in terms of affecting the biochemistry. My thinking is if we can normalize the cortisol angle then the metallothionein will do its proper work....Vitamin C is critical to normalizing adrenal function. schrieb: > > I don't know how to explain it either Mandi, just know the standard > rule is if you get any side effects, drop the dose down. > > The standard dosing for Dmsa should be 1/8 to 1/2 mg per lb, hope you > can convert.
