Guest guest
Hello to everyone this Sunday evening, I have been calling all over town trying to get copies of all of my medical records for the past five years. I've seen so many drs that I can't remember them all. My appt with the new Rheumy is the 14th. Every time I go to a new dr I worry that he will be one of those who tells you to go see a shrink, there is nothing wrong with you. I know all of my test results would not allow that to happen, but then I start thinking that maybe it isn't as bad as I think and I need to stop complaining. I hope that he is nothing like the last one I saw and stopped going to over 4 years ago because he wouldn't treat my pain. I am getting more apprehensive as I draw closer to the 14th. Several of you have talked about preparing to see a new dr by writing down your questions and having a clear presentation of your symptoms. Is there anything else that I should do? The sheer volume of information in my charts is overwhelming. I guess I could organize the info and tab it. Let me know if you can think of anything to help. Thank you all. Guest guest
Hi Iris, I think that is a normal apprehension when going to a new Dr, to be fearful that he might dismiss your pain. Doctors vary so much In their degree of compassion and caring, and a lot of the time it's the " luck of the draw " as to whether you get a winner. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page (the RA-Support website, courtesy of a) there are great links as to how to prepare for a Dr.'s appointment. http://rheumatoid.arthritis.freehosting.net/help.html Love and hugs, Carol [ ] DR Visit Hello to everyone this Sunday evening, I have been calling all over town trying to get copies of all of my medical records for the past five years. Guest guest
Iris: When you go to your new doctor, be brutally honest! Tell him exactly what is going on with you and describe your pain to him. Don't hold back, your pain is only known to you, it is as bad as you think it is and that is what counts, don't think of it as complaining. He can't treat you if you are not telling him everything you experience day to day. It is a good idea to write down what you want to discuss with him, and, if you can, tab your test results in your medical records - they are very important for him to notice. I hope that this new doctor is one like mine who listens with an open mind to what I have to say, takes my complaints seriously, and treats them. Good luck. Guest guest
Angie, I'm sorry to hear about your doctor's visit. I think he should listen to you, he don't have to deal with the pain, just collect the money. It irritates me so much, you chose him to be your doctor, he should help you. I will keep you in my prayers, Tawny > I had my 2nd visit with the rheumy today and am not very happy I > talked to him about the pain and stuff still going on and asked if > he thought an increase in medicine might help and he just sordof put > it off and told me to give it more time.
