Aloha All.

Through the efforts of Guppy, ( whose heart has no earthly

boundaries),  there are 8 scholarship available for parents who may need an

advocate at an ARD, but are unable to afford one.

It is, limited at this time, to those individuals who are members of the list

serve.

The scholarship will corral 5 hrs of time from a professional advocate at no

charge. This includes attendance at the ARD by phone, review of relevant

records, and interview with parents prior to the ARD

There are 2 things to consider to get started.

1) Any and all relevant records specific to the child will need to be sent the

assigned advocate. It recommended that at least the last 2 years of ARD

documents and all assessments be included.

2) Parents are on the honor system. The scholarship is targeted to those who are

unable to afford an an advocate at the ARD level. An advocate is unable give

legal advice. Only an attorney may do that.

..An advocates role is to assist the parent in considering and understanding the

ARD process, and developing options, strategies and tactics to function as an

equal, respected member of the ARD. An advocate can only make recommendations to

parents for thier consideraiton. Parents have the final decision in all ARD

matters.

The coordinator for the scholarship program is Mike Kinser, of Cirkiel and

Associates. Mike  is father of 4, (one with special needs) , Master's level

counselor (LMFTA ) and special ed advocate for 5 years.

Please contact him at his email  or to start the process.

If there are any question,  please feel free to email or call me as well. We are

very open to feedback

My email is specialedmarine@...

Thanks again to Mrs Guppy for her untiring, selfless efforts in helping parents,

to make this possible.

Mahalo,

Beinke
