Hi ,Did he happen to measure what his RVAD is?That would be of some concern to me to know what that is.........RVAD is a good indicator if it will progress or not.How old is Wyatt? A lot can happen in 3 months so watch him closely. I am not trying to scare you, but I know how quickly my son's progressed in 3 months. 29 to 34 degrees.Keep us posted.TashaMommy of twin boys- and 3 years oldFort Worth, Texas is 7.5 degrees and brace free during the day!!!Casting 14 months and bracing 10 monthsSubject: Appt.

Well we went to Shriners yesterday and seen Dr. Tompkins.

They took another set of x rays. Dr. Tompkins came in and talked to

us, he said the Wyatt's curve is @ 30*. He said that since Wyatt is

almost walking, he wants to wait 3 months and see if it will

straighten itself out with gravity.

He said that there are other babies he has seen that have this

happen. He did say that if there where no changes or if it was

getting worse then he would put him in a cast.

So I guess that is good news.

My husband and I left feeling really good about Shriners.

We decided that if Wyatt starts walking soon, then we will give him

(Dr. Tompkins) a call in 2 months and see if things are changing.

But if we notice any changes before then, dr. tompkins said to let

him know.

They were all very nice. Wyatt liked to flirt with the nurses :)

Our first trip to Shriners was the same.... We waited 3 months too for new x-rays and then went on to cast..... Let me know if you have questions. Steph

Please know that this is being written with the best of intentions; we did the same thing with our son. His curve was measured at 23.5 degrees and my husband and I conferenced everyday, "How do you think his back looks?" I swore up and down that is was improving. I said to my husband, " I know that the Dr. is going to tell us that it is at 17". I would hold him close and feel his spine. I was positive that it was improving....and it did, the RVAD went down to 4, but the curve went up from 23.5 to 30 degrees. I was in shock. I said to the Dr. "I have to see the xray." We were in the same boat and we went back 3 months later we now have an apt to cast. A Dr. once told my husband and I, as the babies get bigger, they get bulkier and it is harder to tell if there is a change. I don't know how old Wyatt is, but you said that he may be walking soon, therefore I'm thinking he

is about the same age as my son. Just hang in and do the best you can. ~Krista
