Guest guest
Hi , Just chiming in , how's ?!? Ethelyn Subject: Re: 1st appt with Shriner SLC 10/1, 8 mo old with scoli/kyphosis, & To: infantile_scoliosis Date: Wednesday, September 24, 2008, 6:56 AM My son is also named , but he's now 2 years old. We were diagnosed with neuroblastoma at age 2 months (now in remission), and he has kyphoscoliosis secondary to the tumor. It's very hard to get any type of diagnosis at such a young age, I know. has been sedated many many times at a children's hospital in San Diego since he was 2 months old and we've never had an problems at all. I don't think they would do a last minute MRI as that does require pre-op procedures and no eating. For your little one, probably just 4 hours or so without breastmilk/formula, but each hospital is different. I haven't been to SLC yet, but I know one thing for sure is that you will be in great hands Shriners SLC!! We are here for you as far as emotional support as most of us have been through quite a lot! I'm sure others will chime in & help you, but feel free to contact me directly if you think I can help. has been in 3 casts and we may be facing surgery soon...but his situation is very different. I believe that casting can indeed help with kyphosis...but I found people to differ on that opinion. Remember to just take a deep breath and just take it one step at a time. You've found the best resource. :)Best to you,
