Guest guest
Liz Some good advice there. Most meat is contaminated with antibiotics necessary to keep cattle in pens rather than on the range in addition to growth hormones and a diet that would normally make the cattle ill if not for the antibiotics. You can eat beef but you should make sure to buy the more expensive range fed, and antibiotic free cattle when you can find it. It's much easier to just give up red meat. No Wheat is questionable unless they mean bleached wheat. Many people are allergic to some degree to wheat and this may be the basis for the recommendation. Dairy is a good choice for many of the same reasons as I stated about beef. First off dairy is an unnatural food source for humans and lactose intolerance is more common than most people think. If anyone doubts this, give up all dairy products for a few months and notice the change in your digestion and bowels. Northern Europeans and their descendants are possibly the exception due to centuries of adapting to dairy products. Grapes and more specifically grape seed is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and you can find grape seed extracts in most health food stores. Some claim it works better than NSAIDS but that's not been my experience. Never heard the part on Pineapple though I do enjoy it often. Right and Beans are the main staples of many Vegans but it should be stated that you need to make sure it is whole grain rice's. With the beans unless they are prepared properly you will get the dreaded gas problems and those can be pretty bad. If you cook them correctly you can avoid the gas problems for the most part. Tofu is Soy so it's better to just open this up to all Soy products except those that add dairy and or wheat. Fish goes without saying for anyone that has Still's disease. My wife and I are headed to the fish shop on Highway One south of San Francisco to pick up more fish as we are out of Ahi which I really enjoy. And YES, I do notice the difference when I eat beef and when I eat fish. Ahi makes a good substitute for beef. I don't know that I agree with the statement someone made about yellow oils. I may not have read up on that yet. I use olive oil which has been a staple of the human diet for centuries. It makes sense that it would be healthy to us. But it's flavor doesn't sit well with all dishes. We have made a number of changes since I became ill but I need to find a nutritionist myself as I know my diet could improve even further.
