Dear ,

Our last year's conference main speaker was Dr. Bob Sheff. He is the author

of the book The Medical Mentor, Getting the Health Care You Deserve in

Today's Medical System. It is a book on how to be your own best advocate. I

really think you would enjoy it and it can be purchased at Amazon as well as

various book stores. If you need his contact information I can give it to

you when you get home. He was an excellent speaker and you are SO right

about no one doing it for us. I just spent the last year filing forms,

claims and being ' advocate for his work comp claim and that was WITH

the best attorney. But what it boils down to, as you say, is we have to do

the work and often sick people need all the help they can get. I remember

when ill the times I couldn't even fill out simple forms and it took months

just to file a 5 page disability form that when well would take me 20

minutes. I, like you have always wanted to help others and that is what we

do here at the group in some way but I have always wanted to see it go

further. Like get a social security disability form and then physically fill

it out for the person while talking to them on the phone or some such

helpful way like that. I have helped coordinate services for others from

here in their local area by using the phone books and computers. Those are

the types of things that people that are sick cannot do for themselves and I

also think is a wonderful idea. Maybe as with other things, we can work

together someday. I've always wanted to travel to sick members if possible

to help in any way. Of course that's when we are rich, but have been able to

do so on a couple of occasions over the years, one with a still's member.

Anyway, this has gotten very long and I want to say I'm sorry you're going

through so much all at once when all you wanted was a nice vacation. It will

be good to get home and rest a bit I hope in your pool. Be sure to set up

all travel arrangements for your disabilities before you leave OK?

Safe travels,

_____
