I am a farm wife of a that has educated herself on transitioning our

dairy farm. I started paying attention to the packages coming from

Fed Ex that needed to be " refrigerated upon arrival " I questioned

what this was. I learned from my dear husband that we have been

pumping our cows with rBGH for years, because this " makes us money! "

Can some one or many of you help me explain what you know about this

dangerous hormone. I have been gardening and raising my chickens &

goats without any antibiotics or hormones for the last two

years...though I can't afford to place a label on my products that

says they are organic, they meat the standards. I have been bringing

my husband to organic conferences for the last two years and he

always says to me, " that would be great if we didn't have the cash

flow problems! " Is there data out there that shows that there is LESS

cost and more money to be made when the animals are treated like

animals and not machines?

If any of you could lead me to data or something that I can stand on

when talking to him. Yes, the organic farmers around us are mostly

older and bought their farms from their parents, so they probally

have them paid for...but I don't see why we, younger farmers, have to

be " stuck " in conventional because we will lose our behinds if we

don't!

Sending out a thank you to anyone that can help!

A desparate farm wife in Wisconsin.
