Hi Iris...I love Dan Fogelberg, but never got to see him. I don't know

what happened to Seals & Crofts.

I sure don't see concerts like I used to, though in the summer there are

lot's of opportunities at the Blues Fest, Zoolala and other venues

around Portland that are MUCH less expensive.

The last concert I saw was either Lyle Lovett or the Indigo Girls

around...oops in was Tricia Yearwood in 97...the other two were maybe

94, 95.

When I was in 3rd grade at St. Frederic Catholic School, then Senator (I

believe Senator) F. Kennedy stopped at our school. He was doing a

campaign tour of Oregon and picked our little school (he was known as

the first viable Catholic Presidential candidate).

We were all lined up in our blue-green plaid uniforms, with our nuns and

priest. Up comes a big black limo and other cars. Of course I had NO

idea of he significance of it all. They announce Kennedy, and he

steps out waving...we all wave back. I don't remember what he said.

Then one of his aides said " If you could vote, how many would vote for

Sen. Kennedy ? " " MANY hands went flying up shouting, " Hurray! " Then he

asked if anyone was voting for Mr. Nixon. One brave nun solemnly raised

her hand. We all laughed....and got a stern SHOOSHing from Mother

Superior.

Then when I was 16, I was a volunteer for Bobby Kennedy. He was coming

to my home town for a big rally at the Court House. I handed out

flyers, wore a bunch of buttons. Then it's time for him to arrive. We

all gather around the front of the courthouse, and two folk singers,

don't know who, changed the words to " This Land is Your Land " to " This

Man is Your Man. " We sang several verses. Then a big, black

convertible slowly drove through the big turn-around in front of the

courthouse. It was wild. I fanagled my way to the car and saw him,

shook his hand. I felt so sad...his face was so tanned and tired

looking..it looked like leather. He smiled, but it was a weary smile

His hair was so dry, it looked like straw. I thought oh how much that

man needed rest. It was either the next day, or day after he was killed

in LA.

If if I ever want to write a book, I better be on a prednisone

taper...yikes I'm a jabberbox!

Many Hugs...

Tess
