Guest guest
I know from personal warnings that grapefruit and grapefruit juice can affect benzodiazepines (insomnia and anxiety meds) greatly by increasing the absorption rate of the drug. Thus you get more in your system than is intended. Most if not all of these meds come with warnings. There is also some evidence that it interacts with Viagra but I am glad to say that's one drug I haven't had to worry about yet. ;-) I found a nice list of the drugs affected by grapefruit at http://www.health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update0206d.shtml. Was surprised that Lipitor was on the list. This reminds me to caution ALL of us to ASK our doctors when making any dietary decisions when taking medications or herbal supplements as many can and do cause problems such as when I had to take Cumadin for a while. Just my reminder! Good morning
