Guest guest
This is sorta off-topic but an ANGEL watched for us so my husband and I could go to a Football game at my other son's High School. It was at the Berry Center - big huge stadium.... And if ya'll are ever told that because of bus shortage or money for gas or whatever, that your child has to ride the bus longer than necessary -- go to a football game and video how many school buses are there for ONE TEAM. Drill team, Marching Band, Cheerleaders, Cadettes, Band, Football team. The football team alone had about 100 players.... Huge numbers of people bused to an after school activity! Anyway - it was my passive husband who actually noticed that and said also, " I wonder if their Football Coach was hired off the street with no knowledge of football, and they just put him in as the Head Football Coach with no previous experience, no knowledge of the plays, etc.... " I was really floored..... Finally it clicked to him what situations we parents advocate against and for. It really hit him the " reality " of the low value placed on the education of our children. Really sad.... M. Guppy My autism journey isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.... Texas Autism Advocacy: www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org " There are some aspects of a person's life that we have no right to compromise. We cannot negotiate the size of an institution. No one should live in one. We cannot debate who should get an inclusive education. Everyone should. We cannot determine who does and who does not get the right to make their own choices and forge their own futures. All must. "
