Thanks for this. I am concerned though that in Canada they use the raw products to make items then call them made in Canada. Amazed me when Starbucks in Winnipeg yanked products off the shelf last month for melamine.

I just looked on a bottle of McCormick Onion Powder. the barcode was: 0 523651 8. So I would assume that it was made in the USA. When I read the label, it said "PACKED in the USA". So I'm wondering where the actual onions came from???

I've also seen the words "Assembled in the USA" and when I asked found out that these companies get all of their 'parts' from China and assemble them here. Is that any better?

Seems like a snowjob by the companies to me.

I looked at the bar codes for some things I had just bought at the store and the

numbers weren't even on the list - so I looked it up on snopes and it said this

was only partially true.
