Guest guest
Donna, Maybe you have already received a reply to this but, if so, I haven't seen it so I will fill you in. When I got there about 20 minutes late, Dr. Rutledge was speaking. Probably the biggest thing that he said was that he is in negotiations with a couple of hospitals about the surgery and hopes that surgery can begin at those hospitals in 2-3 weeks. He also addressed the topic of revisions for people who might have lost too much weight. There was an personal trainer there as the guest speaker. She was VERY knowledgeable. She led us through a series of stretching exercises. She also stated how important weight training is for us to keep or build our muscle mass. She really seemed to be great at what she does. Any other questions? Let me know and I will try to answer them (if my pitiful memory doesn't fail me--again). ) On Sun, 29 Apr 2001 03:56:37 -0000, wrote: > Hey everybody, how was the meeting today...sorry I couldnt be there. > someone fill me in on what happened..please. thanks Donna > _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/
Guest guest
Without any teachers there, this doesn't sound like it meets the IDEA criteria for a properly constituted IEP meeting. Be aware. Or maybe I mean beware. Judi Meeting today Well I have always heard, " Be careful what you ask for, you might get it! " My IEP meeting did not go well. I am sure many of you have read my postings concerning this. At the last special ed counsel meeting I attending the area assistant superintendant asked me how my meeting went. I told him that some things were OK, but there was a lot of attitude and a lot of things were not done yet. I complained in particular about the principal. Said given his attitude I had great concerns over the fact that he would be hirinng the aid for next year, etc. I also spoke with my school board member, we have a lot of " off the record " chats, keeps her informed about how things are going... Well, the area superintedant calls me and says he spoke with the principal and his take on the meeting was not the same as mine (surprise!). So he suggested that we meet (the three of us) and get everything out on the table. Good idea, but I just found out this morning that the meeting is today at 3:00. Gulp! I am nervous. Think good thoughts for me... sissy __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Was it their intention that this be an IEP meeting? Judi gives good advice. Whatever you say they can use against you later. I wonder if they will give you notes from the meeting? They may be feeling you out to see how tough an opponent you may be. Just be cordial and if you feel uncomfortable, tell them you must go because of your schedule and leave. Good luck. Cheryl in VA

Guest guest
Is your child under regular ed with related services or special ed with services. My son was under both at different times. When he was under special ed it was the special ed teacher who ran the meeting. Sometimes it was just the two of us. one time the regular ed teacher was on phone conference.. Under regular it the speech therapist ran the meeting with no teacher involvement. We had his iep today. All went well. Tomorrow is 's cpse. I'm ready for it. I have my goals and request ready. Guest guest
I should have specified, this was not an IEP meeting, it was a meeting to put things on the table like the principal announcing during the IEP meeting " Come on folks, let's get things moving, I've go to go! Guest guest
Try not to worry, Tess. I know that this must be extremely difficult for you, but focus on the goal - your better health. Try to appear confident so as to convey to the panel that you are sure that this is what you want to do and that you can succeed. Don't forget that we'll be there with you, too. Your letter is wonderful. I'm sure you have an excellent chance of getting approval. Good luck!
