Guest guest
Went to see my doc today and have to go back this afternoon for a chest CT. He is worried I might be getting pneumonia. The CT will also show exactly what damage occurred to my rib cage. He said the er report said there was " buckling of the 5th, 6th and 7th rib " on the left side. He gave me pain patches b/c the Tylenol 3 was like baby aspirin. Also, my white count was even higher than last week, it's now 19,600. All this while I have been on a ten day course of antibiotics for the head & chest cold (still have that, too, BTW). I haven't talked much to anyone as it gets me out of breath and then I cough and then I hurt more. Thank goodness for email ;-) ! Guest guest
Gail I'm glad he put you on the pain patches - coming from another recent broken rib sufferer. I didn't get a chest cold though, I can relate to the pain of coughing and I'm so sorry. I went to my PCP today to and started to cry - couldn't believe it. I lost it because the stupid docs in the ER think that one mg of Dillaudid is going to help my Trigeminal Neuralgia pain along with the broken rib - they don't even listen. Meanwhile, I can barely see clearly out of my left eye - it's so blury.. She helped me out (thank God). Unfortunately, my glands are swollen, I have a sinus infection and an ear infection (which I thought I might have, but that was all I picked up on)... It's crazy to be in so much pain that the only thing that you feel Is a bit of a really bad ear infection and not even notice the sinus infection. I knew that my glands were swollen, but didn't care. That's normal for me. But after seeing your email, all I can do is think, what would it feel like to have 'three ribs buckled' - hum... I'm glad that your doc is doing a CT-scan for you. Better to make sure that they know what is going on. I hope that he gives you meds for breakthrough pain too (in addition to the patch!) -- my rib & doc visit Went to see my doc today and have to go back this afternoon for a chest CT.
