Guest guest
Penny, These places can help you but my advice is to hire a lawyer who specializes in SS. They wont take your case unless they feel they can win and they have set guidelines for what they can charge, Most of these lawyers will want to see your first 2 letters of denial from SS and also a letter from a doctor saying that you are permanently disabled before they will take your case. I feel other wise you may get bogged down in system.....Judy in Az
Guest guest
I have applied and already been rejected for SSI. My Rheum says this is standard procedure to be rejected the first time. She also says 95% of the people (her pts) are rejected the second time...then you hire a lawyer and it gets approved. My Rheum filled out the initial portion of the paperwork, then I did all the rest..collected as much info as I could from every Doc I have seen and every lab test and procedure result I could get my hands on. I also wrote my own saga in a letter. My Rheum said the rejection letters are just standard. Isn't that irritating....to go to so much work and for nothing (at least for now). The rejection letter said very stupid things like: evidence shows that because of my age/38 I'm capable of standing or sitting for 6 hrs at a time...what a JOKE!! If that was the case I WOULD be at work! And due to my education (I'm an RN) that I should be able to find other work or be retrained. How frustrating. I guess they hope you will just give up and go away. NOT ME!!! They've got another thing coming! Boy...that was LONG winded! I'll keep you posted as to what happens. /CA I'll be > interested to know how many people are trying now. > Susie in MN
Guest guest
Hi Penny, I just received ssd and I can tell you to go and get a lawyer. One that deals with social security. It can be a long hard process and a lawyer is beneficial. I was glad I had the services of an attorney. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like you are taking the right steps. Your doctor is right. I just received disability after a six year battle with it. Don't let that scare you, my file was lost for 17 months. I went into court with reports from 19 doctors. I won but be prepared to be turned down a few times. Than again you might be one of the lucky ones who get approved right away. Sometimes I think it is all up to the judges mood that day. Good Luck, Lynn (MeMom) zipnsqueeze wrote: > I have applied and already been rejected for SSI. My Rheum says this > is standard procedure to be rejected the first time.
