Guest guest
...I have to give myself a shot of Forteo every day, and was on Enbrel before and have become pretty good at sticking myself to where I don't even notice it at all! What I do is clean the area with alcohol (as you have to), ready my pen, gently touch the tip of the needle to my skin (you can " pinch up " your skin in the belly area and give it just a quick, STRAIGHT push. It is easier than it sounds, yet I can't think of a better way to describe it. By no means do I mean thrust it into yourself, more like a short " stroke " and dispense. It has worked for me ever since I had to first start using injectables. The pinching up can help in the belly area, and might on the legs (But I can't pinch anything on my legs after years of lifting) as the tighter you squeeze the less likely you are to feel the needle. Either way, you'll eventually get used to it to the point where it is no longer a concern. Having no fear of needles helps also...if you have a fear, do whatever you can to overcome it as soon as you can. I hope this helps a little, and feel free to ask more if you want to. Adios, Kirk. PS...One thing I forgot to mention is that there may be different sizes of needles available for you with Kineret. I don't remember if there were or not as I was only on Kineret for a month before it too was stopped. I know with Forteo they offer 4 different needle sizes. You can call the company/customer # on the box or simply ask your pharmacist as they can find out also. Once again...I hope this helps.....Kirk > > i have been taking my kineret shot now since sept i give it my self in > the belly and everyday it hurts i was just woundering if anyone knew a > better way to give it or maybe could tell me what im doing wrong i have told > the doc but all he says is to take in the leg but the last time i had to > give my self shots was in the leg and that hurt also is was when i was on a > bloodthinner and sorry i dont write alot its just im new and dont know what > to say half the time > thank you > __________________________________________________________ > More new features than ever. Guest guest
Hi , Elly here, I never actually got to meet you, only your Mom.A very nice worried lady.I take 2 enbrel and 1 methotrexate shots a week.I have found if I take my shots in my thigh and ice the area first, the pain is minimal.I haven't discovered a way to do it painlessly yet,but I'm working on it!lol Personally I think giving them to my husband would be the least painless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please keep in touch and let us know how you're doing. Guest guest
, I give myself Kineret every day. It's pretty easy. The first few weeks you can have a site reaction - mostly big red bumps. They go away once your body gets use to Kineret. The needles are about 1/2 and inch Long. If you are afraid to do the shots, Kineret does have a 'easy shot' which makes it easier to inject. Here are a few hints for first time Kineret users. 1) always warm the shot up in your hand to room your body temp. For some reason, Kineret is one of those shots that if you don't warm up, it can sting, but if you do WArm up it's fine. 2) I like to give it to myself in my stomach, it doesn't hurt as much there. 3) when you give it to yourself, plan un pushing it in slowly, don't try to push it in fast. It will hurt if you push it in fast. It doesn't if you push it in slow. It's really not bad at all. And you may find that you really feel much better with Kineret. It helps me - primarily by keeping my joints from being damaged. I Still have a lot of problems with fevers and swelling and some major problems with bone spurs, but it has made a difference for a couple of years. So hang tough... You can do this - if you can fight stills - you can do anything!
Guest guest
, Mark is on Kineret. I've been trying to figure out what I do differently each time, too. I give him his shot in his arm and sometimes it burns a lot and sometimes not at all. We've been doing this since Sept, too, and here is what works for him... the instructions say to leave it out at room temp for 60-90 minutes...we wait the full 90. I make sure all of the little air bubbles are out. It seems that even a teeny little bit will burn (I was so afraid of " spilling " too much out). And, last, is a contradiction to what just said so it may be a different body part is the difference, but it is probably just becuase everyone is different, but it is much better for him if I do it really fast and " hard " meaning no hesitation. That is how they taught me to do my insulin shots...like I'm throwing a dart...no hesitation. So, hope this helps. Jody BTW-Mark is switching from Kineret to Remicade on Monday. Please everyone wish us luck. Time is running out on his sick leave and he must get back to work. Thanks! Re: kineret , I give myself Kineret every day. It's pretty easy. Guest guest
Hi , The leg hurts with Kineret! I give myself it in the stomach. Here are some hints: Let the shot sit out for a bit to warm up Make sure the beveled side of the needle faces down Pinch up your skin and give the shot in the middle of the pinch Sit down when you do it Ice the spot where you are going to give the shot Let us know if it gets easier! Guest guest
No fast and hard injection for my Kineret. I go very, very slow and very rarely feel it. Houston
