Guest guest
Don't worry, Iris, sulfasalazine is very commonly used in the US to treat RA. And, yes, he may be trying to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak - your IBS and RA. As for the hepatitis B, you will have to discuss that with your doctor. I can understand your concern. Also, sulfasalazine is usually not a good idea for people who have had bad experiences with " sulfa " drugs. Re: [ ] New Dr Dear , Thanks for your reply. I've not gone to the website for medication info before and I am glad that you reminded me. I am trying to figure out why he would prescribe this medication that is not commonly used in the U.S. Could it be because it will also have an effect upon my IBS or maybe would help with the micoplasma that shows up in my tests. The only thing I am concerned about is the cautions about Hepatitis. I contracted Hepatitis B while I was in the hospital (hospitals are full of germs). Thank you. Guest guest
- The only reaction I have ever had from sulfa drugs...antibiotic...was a yeast infection. Should I worry about that? Thanks.. Guest guest
Hey gang, If we are talking reactions-my only bad one was to the sulfasalazine. After a few days, I broke out in hives and had a high fever-ended up in the ER so never got a chance to see if it helped the RA. With Arava, my hair fell out-not all but a lot each day.
