Guest guest
I agree with you Sondra  A lot of the combinations of food American's eat us Australians find a little silly. Even things that are very normal there like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Here they are eaten very seperately.  I think the yummiest 2 things I have had from American Thanksgiving meals would be pumpkin pie and cheese balls ( seperately of course) they are 2 very tasty dishes.  Subject: Re: what words can we use to change of the topic To: Autism_in_Girls Received: Saturday, 22 November, 2008, 9:44 AM Kassi I to never ever heared of bacon chocolate chip cookies that combination sounds not good to me. while I to like of both much so by them selves do not like the ideas of being mixed together so this is of crazy and a silly things for fun to do at thnaksgiving. I to wish had of friends to be of sily with at times in the real of life but someday will get there. sondra Make the switch to the world & #39;s best email. Guest guest
LOL! Sondra, that is the very reason I have to bake an extra pumpkin pie, so that when my hubby eats a whole pie there is one left for the rest of us! :-) In a message dated 11/21/2008 8:22:53 P.M. Guest guest
Me TOO!!! I absolutely LOVE pumpkin pie and while hubby does eat it, he will only ever eat maybe one slice cause he's just not THAT into it... then I'm left to eat the whole pie if I don't want to waste it... and then I wonder why I'm obese! > > Dont feel bad Sondra so would I if tempted enough. Guest guest
LOL ... true true true... I've decided to make a new committment to loose this weight now, I have recently had several people I know or know through friends/family, die of a heart attack and just recently my foster mom had a heart attack that the symptoms were like what I have had several times. She just had two stints put in her heart last night and will have to go back for two more in a few weeks, and at this time she is not a candidate for a by-pass so we have to hope that the stints do their job. Granted I'm much younger still than all these people, but my own father died at 50 of a heart attack, and that was AFTER he'd lost all the extra weight he'd carried for many years, and no one even knew he had a heart problem. So I'm so afraid that I won't be here to care for my kids and then if something happened to me, who would step up to advocate for ??? I'm hoping that I can stay motivated and committed. > > Not Obese Theresa I am in shape round is definately a shape hehe > > > > > > > > From: sondra <hfa2columbus (DOT) rr.com <hfa2%40columbus. rr.com>> > > Subject: Re: Happy Thanksgiving > > To: Autism_in_Girls@ yahoogroups. com <Autism_in_Girls% 40yahoogroups. > com> > > Received: Saturday, 22 November, 2008, 1:22 PM > > > > I to love of the pumpkin pie. if not careful will eat of the whole pie > > by self over the week. > > sondra > > > > Start your day with Yahoo!7 and win a Sony Bravia TV. Guest guest
Good luck.. I too hope to lose some weight in the coming weeks. I am sick of wearing clothes that look like recycled circus tents or being asked when my next baby is due.. So instead of complaining I plan on doing something about it  > > > > From: sondra <hfa2columbus (DOT) rr.com <hfa2%40columbus. rr.com>> > > Subject: Re: Happy Thanksgiving > > To: Autism_in_Girls@ yahoogroups. com <Autism_in_Girls% 40yahoogroups. > com> > > Received: Saturday, 22 November, 2008, 1:22 PM > > > > I to love of the pumpkin pie. if not careful will eat of the whole pie > > by self over the week. > > sondra > > > > Start your day with Yahoo!7 and win a Sony Bravia TV. Guest guest
when one wants to lose of weight they need to first do a food journaling and make of sure that they are of honest to the foods they are of eating to mark of them because of much of the routine and foods we eat will give us clues to our ownhabits of what we can do to change of them. such as some might have a good balanced diet but over eat and so they just need to eat more in moderations, some eat too much fats in the diet that are of the wrong sources of fat for the body and needs to just change of the fat intakes, some eat too much of the wrong sorts of carbs and needs to reduce, change or eliminate of this from the diet, some do not drink enough water to flush of the system, some drink too much sugary sorts of drinks that are of not healthy for the body like I ot know of one person who drnks a 6 pack or more of mountain ew and he is of very obese from it, it he would elminate of just that one item he would lose of much weight from that alone. many thing dieting needs to alter the wole life of their favorite foods and never to consume them this is why when they lose of the weight they go right back to the old foods and routines and regain of the weight back, but if hone just makes helathier life stules of choices that isof unique to their own body routines they can keep the weight off permanently. as for me even with much helath issues if weather premits i to still walk 1- 3 miles a day. this is of for my helath, mental health and to bring the heart to a good rythm and and such. so if some are of going to diet do not go to a rigid crazy diet plan that causes you to feel frustrated and overwhelmed and depressed because of the loss of you favorite foods to things you do not line and are of not rewarding to you taste buds in the mouth. those are of important because we not only eat because of innate things but because it brings of hte brain a strong level of pleasure. if we take that away we ar eof impacting a strong mechanism within us that is of part of who all people are. sondra
Guest guest
Gee, too bad we're half a world away from each other! Otherwise we could buddy up and walk and excercise etc. That is what I lack, a workout buddy... I have no other friends that are overweight and hubby is useless when it comes to doing stuff like that. > > Good luck.. I too hope to lose some weight in the coming weeks. Guest guest
I'm coming in late on this thread so I may be missing a lot of it. On the dieting front, I totally agree with Sondra pertaining to myself. I've been on Weight Watchers for the last few months, I'm down 18 lbs as of late, a total of right at 30lbs from my maximum weight I went to after going on seizure meds. For me, I HAVE to be totally honest with my food journals and I have to have the meetings. There are many days I think I have eaten more than I should & feel guilt, after journaling it out I have many times realized I under ate. I have a lot of emotional issues with food, so the weekly meetings help me a lot. WW in the past focused on food, WW now focuses more on the whys of overeating. I think I'm realizing more & more that I have to work very, very hard to change my food habits, it's just a weakness I have that will take lots of hard work to permanently overcome. For autism I think it's much trickier. Like with Allie, I believe she avoids protein because she cannot metabolize it efficiently. So for someone like her, a low protein/high carb diet is ideal. I would imagine for those on spectrum it would be an issue for a certain percentage of the population considering the unknown number of mito disorders. For other groups within the mito dysfunctions they might require high fat, or low fat or high protein. I found with Allie this past summer when I began frying some of her foods in healthy fats she gained body fat which was a negative, when I went back to oven baking again she lost most of the fat, but she's also going through the puberty thing so I feel what she now has is her body trying to use it to grow.
