Guest guest
Hi Carol, Do you just feel feverish or do you have a temperature? The malaise caused by RA can really mimic a flu. My eyes get dry with my RA but they don't burn. Do you feel nauseous at all? I hope you feel better. Hugs, Al > I have a question to pose to the group (and for and a). Guest guest
Hi Al, I feel feverish, but my temperature Is normal. I'll check it again later this afternoon. I did have some nausea yesterday, but I figured it was from the Methotrexate. I hope it's just the flare, because I don't want to have to postpone my Remicade infusion tomorrow. I hope you're having a good day. Thanks for being there. Love and hugs, Carol [ ] Re: Flare vs flu Hi Carol, Do you just feel feverish or do you have a temperature? Guest guest
Hi Carol, That's good you have no temperature. I really hope you're not coming down with the flu and will keep my finger's crossed that you get the infusion. I am a little under the weather today. Some pain in my chest and a bit sluggish although the prednisone gives me a " high " . Plus, my knees ache. Happens from time-to-time. I'll continue to send healthy vibes your way. Take care of yourself. Love and hugs, Al
Guest guest
Hi Carol...if you don't have a fever, it's doubtful you have " influenza " , but you could have some kind of virus. Are your joints swollen more today, or hot, or red? If so, I would probably think flare. You know, you could have both a flare and a virus going. Be gentle with yourself today...lots of fluids. You'll figure this out. Love & Hope... Tess
Guest guest
Actually, I think the good vibes Al has been sending my way are helping me. (Thanks Al!) I feel a little better this afternoon. I'm thinking it is a flare, but I could have a virus on top of it. I'm just grateful it's easing up. I am drinking lots of fluids, and I'm taking vitamin C. I'm also going to have a big hamburger tonight, in hopes of improving my blood count. I'm not much of a red meat eater, but I know I need it right now. I'm pretty sure I 'll be OK for my infusion. Thanks for being such a good friend. Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Flare vs flu Hi Carol...if you don't have a fever, it's doubtful you have " influenza " , but you could have some kind of virus. Guest guest
Does that mean a and I aren't part of the group, Carol? I'm feeling left out now. Kidding aside, I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling well. You're asking a tough question. I think since there is so much overlap between flare symptoms and symptoms of an illness due to a virus or bacterium and symptoms of a hypersensitivity reaction, there probably aren't any hard and fast rules. The most important thing is to get to know what is usual for you. When the severity of a typical symptom or yours is suddenly increased or something entirely new occurs, that's something to take notice of and/or call your doctor. Of course, it is wise to be more vigilant when you've added a new med (as you recently have). [ ] Flare vs flu > I have a question to pose to the group (and for and a). Really I was just trying to get your attention to give me some good advice. I'm feeling better tonight, so I'm figuring it's a flare. Since I just prepaid for a hotel room on priceline.com, I sure hope I'm not sick. As always, thanks so much! Guest guest
Hi Carol, Glad you were feeling better this afternoon. I hope you're doing even better this evening. Does this mean you will get to have your infusion? I hope so. We had a birthday party for my youngest son's soon to be 4th birthday. We belong to this club at a Lake in Libertyville and had the event outdoors. It was really nice, but I am exhausted now. I hope you have a great evening, Carol. Take care. Guest guest
Hi Al, What a wonderful day I'll bet you had! And to have the birthday party outdoors on the lake was beautiful, I'm sure. You must be exhausted, though. You worked all day, and then had the birthday party besides? Yikes. Hopefully you'll get a good night's sleep. Have you been sleeping any better? I know the prednisone is stimulating, but hopefully between exhaustion and the Ambien you'll sleep in spite of it. I'm feeling pretty good tonight, so I'm planning to head up to Gainesville for my infusion in the morning. I prepaid my room at the Sheraton, so I hope I'm still feeling this good tomorrow. I'll be out of town tomorrow, and Stan is leaving town for 4 days as well. It's like we're two ships passing in the night. Oh well, when we do finally get a longer period of time together, it will be that much more special. (That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.) I'm missing our other partner in crime, Lucy. I called her yesterday, but she didn't answer and I left a message. I'm going to try to call her again tomorrow. I'm getting a little worried. Most likely, though, she's just not feeling up to being social. I think everyone goes through that at one time or another. I will let everyone know if I hear anything from her. I'll be praying for a good night's sleep for you, Alan. Guest guest
Hi Carol, First of all, good luck with the infusion today. I hope you get even better relief than last time. I know Stacey is getting her first and am hoping she reaps its benefits as well. I was definitely tired. I am fortunate in that I can telecommute from work from time-to-time, which I took advantage of. Since I was up at 4:30 a.m., I think the company I work for got a good day's work from me even though I took a 1/2 day off LOL! If you saw my earlier post, I have been sleeping great, but for only a few hours. I know my body is still adjusting from all the meds so maybe the duration will be longer down the road. Glad to hear you are feeling good. I like the Gainesville area. Was a huge fan of the radio station (The Gator) when I was younger. I am glad you're staying put afterwards. It's a shame that you and Stan are like two ships passing. I did a lot of business traveling many year's ago and it got old really fast. This was before I was diagnosed with anything. I do remember the reunites being wonderful though...;)It will be special when you see each other I am sure. I miss hearing from Lucy too and was actually thinking about her this morning. Please let us know how she's doing if you find out. I'll be praying that you have a good and safe trip Carol. Take care of yourself. Love and Hugs, Al
