Guest guest
Dear a...Thanks for the info. I began taking BP meds around the same time I started taking Elavil. A couple of years ago and a couple of times a year, I have stood up and gotten very dizzy. One time it was so bad that I couldn't get up for several hours and so I went to the ER. They didn't find anything. I always thought that these spells were from blood sugar even though I am not diabetic. It is interesting to entertain the thought that perhaps it was Elavil. I think I will mention this to my dr next week. Have a good night. Guest guest
Iris: I had the high pulse AND the weight gain. Have you had trouble with your weight since you've been on the Elavil? My pulse and my weght has come down in the three weeks or so that I've been off of it. Be sure to mention it to your doctor. Hugs, encoragement, prayers. Guest guest
Dear Jan...I had about a twenty pound weight gain when I started taking Elavil and it is still hanging around. Do you have any idea of anything else I could take to sleep. I don't want to take sleeping pills and I have to do something because I wake up all night with numb hands and pain. Guest guest
Iris, Low blood pressure or sugar imbalance due to diabetes or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause dizziness, frequent headaches, fatigue, irritability, and depression. It could be a co-incidence that they found your high BP at the same time as starting Elavil, but I would definitely ask your doctor. Many years ago, pre RA I had dizzy spells when getting up. Now I believe it was hypoglycemia since I didn't eat right. It hasn't happened in many years. It's pretty frightening. Hugs, a > Dear a...Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Thanks a...I will talk to my dr about this. I did have gestational diabetes but since then I haven't shown any problem with sugar. I know that this means I could be more susceptible. I had my bone scan today. I got there at 9 but the camera was down so I didn't have the injection until around 12 and they didn't do the scan until 2:30. By the time I got home it was after 4 and I was in a great deal of pain. The tech showed me the screen and it looked like a halloween skeleton to me. I did see a noticeable dot on one of my kidneys. I don't know what that means. They didn't get my hands in the scan and that is one of my major problems. Does the area where your uterus would be always show up as a really large circle? One knee was a lot brighter than the other and you could see what really small leg bones I have; the tech commented on that. The dr had also said several times that I have really little legs. I laughed and said " I look like a Popsicle. The tech said that the joints are all supposed to be bright like they were. Of course, I don't know anything about this and will have to wait until I see the dr on Tuesday. I can't believe it is already 10:30 and I am just getting to my computer. I also have to finish working on a bulletin board I am doing for the library at the local elementary school. I have to go register for substituting tomorrow. Have a good night and please send me any info you think applies to this rambling account of my day. Thanks...Iris --- a <paula54@...> wrote: > Iris, > Low blood pressure or sugar imbalance due to > diabetes or hypoglycemia (low > blood sugar) can cause dizziness, frequent > headaches, fatigue, irritability, > and depression. > It could be a co-incidence that they found your high > BP at the same time as > starting Elavil, but I would definitely ask your > doctor. Guest guest
<< I have to go register for substituting tomorrow. >> Iris, how does substituting work? I got the application for my local school district online, because I was thinking it offers a lot of flexibility, which is important with RA. Once you're hired do they have a hotline and you call in if you want to work? Or do they call you if they think you're right for a particular opening? I love teaching Sunday school, and I'm curious to see if I'd be good at teaching in a classroom environment. It certainly doesn't pay much here ($50 per day!), but in addition to what I do for our company it would be fine. I wouldn't try it until after Christmas, but I'm very curious. Thanks in advance for your advice! Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Iris-Elavil Thanks a...I will talk to my dr about this. My friends sometimes make fun of them, they're so little. I got them from my mother's family. All of them have little bird legs and big fat bodies. At least I no longer have the fat body since I lost 40 pounds. My son once said to me, " Mama, are those your legs, or are you riding on a chicken? " But I'd rather have these legs than big fat ones.
