It has been a lone time since my last post, but I really wanted to get something out to everyone. Just a refresher, we live in L.A., my son Jack was Dx. with IIS, by one MD and Congenital by another. The group encouraged me to get an appt with Dr. Kishan and we did..(5/28). ...here's the update. Dr. Kishan was wonderful! Both my husband and myself, finally feel that Jack is being treated by the best MD for his situation. Dr. Kishan Dx. Jack with IIS! Finally good to have a Dx. from an expert. Dr. Kishan measured the very first x-ray that Jack had at 28 degrees, where the initial Dr. measured it at 20 degrees. This concerns me, d/t the fact that a curve over 20 degrees does not always fall into the category of resolving scoli. Dr. Kishan took one x-ray and he measured that at 23.5 degrees this is a - 4.5 degree change in 16 weeks. I don't know if that is good or not. Obviously it is great in terms of the fact that it is going down...but I just don't know if that puts the curve into the resolving category. We have a follow up appt on Aug. 28th. Dr. Kishan wants Jack to have an MRI before our follow up appt. and we will. I was on the fence about this, but as many of you pointed out there could be other potential issues, tethered cord...etc. Thank you for all of the advice, it made what the Dr. was saying, feel right. Hearing it twice..helped. If any Moms/ Dads have any advice about our upcoming MRI or Jack's measurements. ..PLEASE feel free to post. I am just wondering about this slow correction? If it is that. In reading some posting, I think I picked up that many curves, when they progressed, did so rapidly, that's why the "wait and see" method is so scary. I also think I remember reading that Infantile scoli does not stay the same it either progresses or resolves?? Any help/advice/ stories would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. I hope that ALL of you children and doing well, and are enjoying their summer. ~ Krista Sloan

Guest guest
We saw him 5/28...I just took a really long time to post from our appt. We are going to see him 8/28 (everything is on the 28th, this helps my brain). We really don't know what way the upcoming appt is going to go. I really don't think that Jack's back has progressed, just not sure it is really improving a whole lot on its own, and I just don't want to lose any valuable growth time to help with correction. So we just have to hang in until the end of Aug. A waterproof cast that sounds great. It is really HOT here all the time! I will ck into that. I'll have to see if I notice a difference in his "look". Once again I told him he was like a rock star on our site...maybe he's taking it to heart!! Hang in. ~Krista From: Krista Sloan <kmsloan18yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: Krista and Jack updateTo: infantile_acoliosis @yahoogroups. comCc: kristamearthlink (DOT) netDate: Saturday, July 5, 2008, 9:15 PM I found a quiet moment and I wanted to check in with the group. Guest guest
Thank you for your message re: the MRI. We have the first available appt at 7:30am. We live in L.A. now but my job is based up North. My husband and I are originally from Marin County, Novato to be exact. I am very happy to hear that your daughter is being well taken care of. The best of luck to you and your family. ~Krista Sloan From: Krista Sloan <kmsloan18yahoo (DOT) com>Subject: Krista and Jack updateTo: infantile_acoliosis @yahoogroups. comCc: kristamearthlink (DOT) netDate: Saturday, July 5, 2008, 9:15 PM I found a quiet moment and I wanted to check in with the group.
