Guest guest
You're right, whew, what a xmas present for her. Glad she's taking it well & hopefully her periods aren't going to be too difficult. I really feel for women who get such bad periods with the severe cramping, headaches etc & I hope none of our girls fall in that catagory. Guest guest
You really lucked out. I'd love for Peri not to start her period until she's 14. I am dreading the day already, kind of feeling that she'll be an early starter because she's tall (both my husband and I are tall), and even at 6, she's got the start of a shapely figure. Oh well, I'll deal with it when it gets here. Hope Hannah is still doing well with it. Karmen what a christmas present for hannah I think its been coming for a couple of days, but this morning she got her period. she is 14, so i guess i can be glad it waited this long and not some crazy age like 10. We had talked to her about it, and at school, her aid has helped talking and showing her what pads look like etc.........she took it all remarkably well. I showed her how to do everything, we went shopping. she later said she wanted to change...........so, so far, so good. I now need to tell her that sometimes she may get a tummy ache, and sometimes, she may need to go to the bathroom, even if she doesn't feel like going to check............school will be a big thing. I bought her a little bag, and i said this is where we will keep some spares, and when she goes to the toilet, at those times, she can take it with her....phew..............i have been dreading this day for so long.......but.....lets just see how we go. Guest guest
she is doing ok....just doesnt understand that its a private thing, i ask her at times has she checked herself, and she would quite happily check right there and then infront of everyone if i let her..........her poor brother will have no worries knowing about the female body i am afraid...lol....i am sure he will be asking questions soon. School will be the test...............as long as they don't get too heavy will be the thing. she has this habit of not bringing out her dirty clothes and underwear too.........i found i don't know how many under her bed yesterday...i did the big clean in there took nearly 2 hours, i had let it go. All the pictures she draws, her kiddy books she reads were everywhere, so i attempted to tidy, i threw so many papers out, the garbage is full...she got a little upset, but not as bad as usual.........i usually wait till she is at school to do a big clean, but this time i had lost my cool......i will go and check this morning...i bet things are over the floor already, its like she loves mess...........does anyone else have this with their daughters?? Guest guest
Dear Cheryl, Yup, I believe the therapists call it executive function deficit! It really is a pain, especially when my 10 year old dd can't find something she desperately wants and it is buried in the mess and she has a meltdown over it! Guest guest
YES! Allie wants everything in her floor. I've tried to get lots of bookcases so she can still see it all, but she still wants it in the floor. That's one of my goals for 2009 is to work more on her functional skills, such as cleaning her room, putting toys away, hanging clothes, etc. A dear friend called last night & told me about her husband taking their son with autism to a Lowe's. Son disappeared for a second & dad found him sitting on a display toilet pooping in it right in front of everyone. Lol. The second I heard Lowe's & bathroom I knew what was gonna be said next! Guest guest
See thats just it...........they are so literal, is frightening. today, i had my son, his friend, and hannah, other daughter was working at mcdonalds.......i wanted to put something in the car and it was stinking hot, so i told them all to go wait in the mall, go sit on a bench.........hannah saw this neat chair that belonged to a furniture shop, she wanted to sit there, i saw what was about to happen, i ran into the building and said..........NO, not there, over on the bench, she looked at me and growled.....but knew she should do what i told her. She gets very loud lately when she disagrees with me.............i tell her to be quiet, and that makes her worse....oh well, people can look, i really don't care.
