well that is good news...I was kind of under the impression from the

info I had read on MTX that NSAID's either could not be used or would interact

poorly with it. I need some additional relief and maybe that can be key. I

made another appointment with my RU who I have not had much success with to

force him to look at my inflammation and the damage it has caused just in a

short period, at least I will be at peace That I made an extra effort if some

thing can be done instead of waiting 5 more weeks till the next appointment.

Good morning Mandi,

While I was on MTX and many years before & since, I've had good sucess with

Naproxin. I also used an anti-inflammatory called Daypro for a while that

worked well for me. I do believe that if you go to the Arthritis foundation

home

page you can order a free arthritis drug magazine for free that is a very

useful tool. Hope this helps.

Good day,

Mandi,

Sorry to hear about your pain.  I take

the mtx (22mg) and prednisone ( 10mg).

I used to be on 15 mg mtx and the 10 pred. so the  R upped my dose because my

hands were swelling..

MAYBE it is just a matter of adjusting the meds..

I am wondering if what works for awhile will wear off and then the dosage has to

be changed..

do not know

everyone is different sooooooooo

hang in there...

MTX + an Anti Inflammatory???

Does anyone take MTX with an additional Anti inflammatory besides

Prednisone?? I think I need one and will discuss this with my RU next week but

was

wondering if any one has had success? Right now I'm 10mg pred and 4 MTX pills.

Swelling is terrible and spreading causing once un effected areas to now

become barely useable.

Thanks,

Mandi

I am on 20mg Prednisone and 25 mg of MTX. Had to be off Remicade and

MTX since October due to infections. (enough about that) Just

restarted. My Rheumy has also had me take NSAIDs (Ibuprfen) as

needed. It kind of helps take the edge off, especially at times

close to my next Remicade dose.

She had me try Arthrotec once, but it upset my tummy and the gas

drove everyone out of the house.LOL
