Guest guest
H'lo everyone. If you can't tell by now, I'll let you in on a little secret. MY COMPUTER IS UP AND RUNNING! I will now be able to read all my mail over the weekend and not go into work and find 400-500 emails on Monday mornings to weed through. It is great also because I have been given more responsibilties in my daily routine and it was going to harder to read and send an occasional email. I will also have something to do at night when I can't sleep besides read(not that I ever get tired of reading - I love to read)and I have never been a big fan of TV. I have only the basic cable and then just watch it for the news and a special program here and there. Late night TV is full of shopping networks, info-commercials, and stale items of no interest. I hope you won't get bored with me because I hope to contribute more to the group. There has been many times that I wanted to comment or throw something out to discuss or ponder but couldn't work the time in at work to do so. For the others who are up tonight, I feel for you and hope you will get some sleep and relief soon. My next door neighbor who moved in a little over a year ago had an annual birthday party for her 2 children and 6 fosters at a nearby park today. She is a good friend and takes care of my grandson(8 on the 25th) while I am working. He was included as one of the birthday honoree's as they think of him as one of the family. There was a jump house, 2 ponies for rides, " Cruising Critters " (hands on with many animals, bugs, and reptiles) plus games and lunch. Richie was allowed to invite 6 kids and one of the kids was from my church. His mother and I have been friends for a good 15 years starting with my daughter(Richie's mother)babysitting her older kids when they were little. We sat and talked and caught up a lot of things. I had known for years that she was ill and was not always at church functions but never knew what the illness was. I told her about my recent diagnosis of FMS and was supprised to find out she has FMS for the past 10 years. Two weeks ago, I found out another friend has had it for nearly that long. They kept it to themselves, much as I have the pain and all because they too, had met with any understanding or compassion. They have no support other than their husbands. I'll say it again. I'm so glad I found this group! I will close for now as I probably could write a book now that I have the means to do it. Good night - sweet dreams. Hugs and prayers, Jan in CA +/:=) ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Jan, that's great that you have a computer at home now! We aren't going to get bored with you. Good friends don't get bored with each other. It's just part of the friendship. What a shame that your friends with FMS have so little outside support. Maybe because FMS, as a disease, is recently defined, there isn't as much support out there. I'm confident that will change, though. Can you imagine people who suffered with it before, and were told it was all in their head? I think most of us before we were diagnosed went through some doubt as to the validity of what we're going through. I spent years trying to fix my symptoms on my own. I never realized that I was allowing joint damage to occur in the meantime. I'd better run. We start at 9AM. Have a great Sunday! Love and hugs, Carol [ ] Night owl? H'lo everyone. Guest guest
OK Marge, It is my turn to be a night owl! My knee has gotten me awake about an hour ago and even with a pain pill, I can't sleep, the pain is still too much. I don't see the ortho surgeon until Friday @ 7:45 am. I went and got my hair cut and had to do one of those wax things. It is getting so bad that they used a trowel to put the wax on and then something on the order of a bed sheet to rip off the hair. Ron had to drive me as I can't drive yet and he couldn't imagine what was going on back there. I tell ya,that whole face wax or letting my eyebrows just grow out and comb them back is looking better and better. My tummy is also bothering me around the adhesion area and I pray that this is not something brewing. Oddly enough, I had an appt with the general surgeon today to make an appt for the lysis of adhesions procedure to be scheduled and there is no way I can possibly do this right now. NOTHING until that knee is healing! Of course, if I totally obstruct, then it is a totally different story. At least, now I know that my surgeon is back and the problem should be taken care of correctly. I fell asleep at 1:00 am and at 3:300 am, the pain pills wore off and that was it for that. I am hoping that with a little quiet time activity and a pain pill, I still may be able to get a little more shut eye. Vickie starts college today, so she will be getting up early. Oh well, I guess the word for my day is going to be NAP. Well, I have just taken some tylenol to help the pain pill. One of the ER nurses told me that this sometimes help the pain medication work better and longer. I dunno know. I am pretty desperate right now. It has been two weeks today since the surgery and I thought I would be much further along in my recovery. Ron and Vickie say that the swelling is getting more pronounced. Sorry I missed ya last night Marge, but I am hoping that Mr Sandman makes a southern visit real soon! Gentle, tender, sweet dreams angel hugs, Debs in FL
