Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This made me remember something. The professor I met in South Africa when I was first diagnosed showed me a great “Arthritis handshake”, its different to Dr Shiel’s – I’ll try explain. You shake by holding your hand with index finger and baby finger touching (under your two middle fingers), looks a bit strange (like a V) but people don’t seem to notice and you don’t have to give a “naff” handshake – so Al you can “shake like a man!” LOL! It protects the joints from being crushed. He explained to my husband how it feels for us when someone squeezes our hands like this – he took four pencils and placed them between his fingers, then he squeezed the top and bottom fingers together as in a handshake – I think he got the picture quiet vividly LOL! ! It’s a great way to show friends and family how it feels for us, try it (but tell them to squeeze themselves or you may lose a friend! LOL!)
