Another Day, Another Ortho Appt

August 15, 2002

Well,

9:00 am, back to the ortho! The swelling really increased during the night

and about 3:00 am, I started oozing from another part of the incision. I

hemmed and hawed and finally Ron took me out of the house kicking and

screaming to the doc. HE put some silver nitrate on it and no more leaking!

The swelling is not from any new bleeding, just from the normal body fluids

that happen from putting pressure on the operative site. I did ask him about

the lateral release that he said he did (just how many can a person have

before there is nothing to release?????). It was actually just a release of

the adhesions that had formed and making sure that there would be no undo

pressure on that ligament. He sterile dressed it and said that I HAD to keep

the pressure bandage on it to keep the swelling down to a minimum. Any blood

that

is seeping right now will be absorbed by my body. He has also changed my

pain medication to percocet 10 mg and then I see him on Monday. I think that

I see the light at the end of the tunnel, I just hope that it is not that of

a freight train!!!!! LOL. It was a long night last night. I think I am

going to have a long recovery road ahead of me.

I had to cancel my Remicade for today as I couldn't be in two places at once

and now their computers are down so I can't reschedule. Maybe it is a

freight train that I see afterall!

I need a cabana boy over ice, stirred not shaken, oh no, that is a martini.

Well, maybe the cabana boy can bring the martini!

Talk to y'all later. It has been a very rough week for me. Maybe I will get

my nails down and be fluffed and buffed!

P.S. The ortho said that I should wear sensible shoes! Excuse me, flip

flops are not orthopedic????? He should see my closet. These are probably

the most sensible shoes that I own. Hey it's Florida!!!!!! I think Monday I

will wear the pink spike heels and see what his cardiac status is! Should

have checked this out BEFORE I had surgery! I just ignored him and said I

couldn't hear a word he was saying!!!!!
