Guest guest
As an early intervention therapist and private consultant for young kids w/ asd's, my view of what kids learn to do has a short time line. I'm surprised to learn how much assistance so many children still need later on. I am always interested in parents' perspectives to learn what might be helpful to add into my work. I would be very interested in hearing what your experiences were with EI, school systems, or private clinicians to teach your children to be more independent. Has anyone tried a picture schedule to teach routines for daily living skills? If so, was it helpful? , did you learn about task analysis (breaking down a skill to small parts) and token reinforcement (sticker charts) on your own or were you taught by someone? Do you use backward chaining? Cheers, Hope
