Hi ,So happy Noah did not progress. I so know your disappointment..... recently had a ckup....not so good. Is Noah wearing his brace full time? Hang in there, this whole process is a roller coaster. Hi Everyone,

Noah had his 3 month check-up at Minneapolis Shriners last week. Noah measured at

10*. He was 9* at his last check-up in Aug. While we were glad that he did not progress

- I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed that he did not improve.

As you might remember, we were a little discouraged with his current brace that was

made in Mpls. They only got 2* of in-brace correction. Plus Noah started walking on his

toes again once he got in the new brace back in Aug. (His toe-walking had seemed to

resolve when he was in his other brace from SLC. He didn't toe-walk for 4 months.) He's

back to toe-walking about 90% of the time.

I asked his doc about making adjustments to the brace now. "Can't we push him for

further correction other than just 2*?" And "are there some adjustments that could be

made to the brace to help with the toe-walking? " I don't feel that I got a good answer.

Basically, he said he "wasn't worried about him." No brace adjustments were made.

I think I might consult with his old doc in SLC just in case he has a different perspective.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

Also, if you remember from my previous posts...Mpls Shriners is hoping to begin casting

in early 2009. At our last appt the doc said that our SLC doc would be in Mpls to train

him on the technique in late Dec-early Jan. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that is

going to happen now. Our Mpls doc says that he's still hoping to make it to either Chicago

or SLC in the upcoming months though to learn the treatment.

- let me know if there's anything that ISOP or I can do to help get Mpls Shriners

trained.

Thanks Tasha. Yep, Noah's in his brace 23 hours a day. He can also have breaks

for

excersize. The plan is to brace him for the full 12 months after his last cast

came off (so

Feb '09.) Then we'll wean him from the brace.

I just hope that the toe-walking stops after the brace wear stops. They're at

the point

now where they're discussing part-time brace wear on his feet once the back

brace comes

off in the Spring.

I'm of course saddened to go from one brace to the next. I just don't

understand how

come the last brace (which was a little lower on his back) caused him to stop

toe-walking

and now this one causes him to go up on his toes again. In my opinion - make

his current

brace match his last one. It seems pretty simple.

Maybe we'll have to discuss traveling back to SLC for a new brace. It seems

worth it on

one hand, but on the other hand we're hopefully almost done - so do we bother?!
