The straps

are high because the jacket is applied on an appropriate sized, 3-dimensional casting

frame, while the child is laying down. Once the child is up and running their

little bodies relax into the jacket and the straps get higher (gravity). Applying

form fitting shoulder straps also takes some practice and a little trimming, before

the child leaves the hospital, so their ears aren’t rubbing on them. Shoulder

straps may seem uncomfortable and unnecessary, but they are key for addressing thoracic

curves/rotation…Take another look at the baby in Mehtas article. The

shoulder straps are high, but not to the point of intolerance. The jacket

also has appropriate windows, which are also a very important guideline for Early

Treatment.

I tend to agree, . I think there is something

going on that

we're losing correction and since that's the only visible difference,

I can't help but think it must be at least part of the equation.

The over-arm straps were always very loose and high, though and didn't

seem to be doing much when we were in Chicago. The last time they

weren't even stable - I could pop them around quite easily and they

sat maybe an inch and a half higher than the top of his shoulder. I

think Tina said Sophia's was the same way that cast.

I hope that Dr. D and Angie get back with us soon. She said hopefully

this week.
