Guest guest
fantastic news so happy to hear this Subject: Anxiety easing To: autism_in_Girls Date: Thursday, December 4, 2008, 9:18 PM Hello all, I wanted to post that my daughter (6 yrs. old) has been seeing a chiropractic neurologist since March and FINALLY we are seeing her anxieties diminish. They are not gone by any means, but they are noticeably lessening. Just today she went for a dr. visit. She is EXTREMELY fearful of the medical instruments, especially the ear, nose and throat light instrument. She has NEVER let any dr. get near her with that instrument without having to be physically restrained. She works herself up so much in a drs. office that she will vomit. I found really good peds. several years ago, just a husband and wife team, no nurses, no receptionist. They schedule their own appts. They are VERY accomodating and always clear their schedules so that if Peri cannot go into the examining room (due to her anxieties, she has often refused to enter another room once in the office), they will examine her in the waiting room. The last few times I had to take her (once in August, once in Oct. and then again today), she has gotten increasingly less anxious. Today however, she had NO anxiety about going in whatsoever. She prefers the husband, and whenever he is not available, she cries and gags. Well, today she had to see the wife, and she did fabulous. She asked for the husband, Dr. Monaco, but he wasn't available, and she didn't fuss at all. She walked into the examining room, allowed the wife, Dr. Chun to look into her ears, nose, and mouth, got examined, and then onto the scale with no problems. FIRST TIME EVER. Needless to say, the dr. was stunned at how well she did also. We all attributed it to the work the chiropractic neurologist is doing with Peri. This is the only different change in her regimen that she's had for over a year, and I've been taking Peri either once or twice a week since March. Our struggle with anxieties is the absolute worst part of Peri's disorder. They have controlled her life for the past 3 years and it is an ongoing uphill battle. Today was a much needed break from the norm. Just wanted to share this with the group. Karmen

Guest guest
I am very happy for you. My question is, How do you know if is because of the chiropractor and not just from getting used to it? Where you doing something specific that is supposed to help the anxiety. I am wondering since one of my NT daughters is starting to get a little OCD. Guest guest
Hi Rebekah, Peri is in no way free and clear of anxieties but with the pediatrician we're sure we've made progress in the area of anxiety through the help of the chiropractic neurologist. Peri has been going to the same drs. since she was 3 because I couldn't even get her into the door of the other pediatrician practice without her puking and screaming the entire time. The personalized attention AND empty office at the new practice didn't help relieve her anxieties, they were however more accomodating with her anxiety issues, inability to go into the examining room and anxiety with the medical instruments. Nevertheless, she still would get physically and emotionally extreme each and every time we'd go. The dr. was quite stunned yesterday also by the change in her ability to handle the visit because in the short amount of time she's had 3 appts. and has gone from still extreme to handling the exam fine. She reviewed the evaluation reports that the chiropractic neurologist sent to them, and was on the same page with the probability that her treatments with the chiropractic neurologist are working. Peri goes to the pediatrician very infrequently. She only goes if needed for sickness or her annual check up. The annual check up was in August in which I carted along TWO extra pair of hands, which WERE needed. The next time I took her she had pertusis in Oct. and again, she cried, but was less extreme, although she still didn't accept the medical instruments willingly. And lastly to check for a possible UTI and check up yesterday, which she was fine. The chiropractic neurologist is not just a chiropractor, he is a chiropractic neurologist who works on areas of the brain that are not working properly along with the other systems of the body. He has been targeting areas of the brain where anxiety is triggered. This was my main focus for going to him. I heard he was very good, patient and although an hour drive from my house, he is WELL worth it. Other than the chiropractic neurologist, which I stumbled upon through word of mouth, I previously took Peri to a DAN dr. He had her on numerous supplements to try to control her anxiety and help with her autism. None of them helped. At one time I was encouraged to take her to a psychiatrist and medicate her. I chose to continue only natural remedies until it was imperative to put her on an rx. drug. Through trial and error I've come up with a treatment schedule that seems to work best for her. I currently now have her on just 3 supplements for anxiety: a transdermal gaba/l-theanine cream, Calm Child, and Anxiety Control, along with several other supplements. I do feel that everything natural works to help the bodies systems stabilize, but regular BM's to get rid of the toxins and impurities in the body is imperative. Because Peri has always had withholding issues with her bowel movements, I have to be diligent in this area to make sure she goes to the bathroom daily. The probiotics and enzymes help with this. Hope that helps. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
There yours for free. I'm getting rid of things that are not being used and those are one of them. And just so you know, I asked Peri if it was okay to give them away and she said 'yes'. It may take me a week to get them in the mail but I will get them out to you. Guest guest
Thank you! That does help a lot. Do you mind telling me where are you located? How do I find a qualified MD for that? Guest guest
I'm in NJ, about 20 min. from Philadelphia. There are many chiropractors, but not so many chiropractic neurologists. I believe there are only two in south Jersey. They are not the same as chiropractors that do the Cranial Sacral therapy, which some people tend to believe, although their may be some chiropractic neurologists that do cranial sacral therapy. The chiropractic neurologist that my daughter and I see is Dr. Master. His website is: www.drmichaelmaster.com He is a very kind, gentle man, with young children of his own. I have recommended several friends to him and they all have very encouraging things to say about their children's treatment. You may want to google chiropractic neurologists. There may be one near you. I stumbled upon mine through word of mouth from an on-line resource. A co-worker was taking her son to the other chiropractic neurologist in south Jersey and each time I spoke to her about her sons progress I was more inspired about this treatment helping Peri. My co-workers chiropractic neurologist did not accept insurance however, so I mentioned this on another on-line autism group that I belong to and a parent on that forum reccommended Dr. Mike, which is the title my daughter calls Dr. Master, who does take some insurance. So that is how I happened upon him. Guest guest
Thanks , Its good to know that it isn't just me. Treatments and therapies are very much trial and error. Some things work for some and not for others. Just gotta keep trying new approaches to get the best outcome for your child. Take care, Karmen Re: Anxiety easing I have heard from many parents that have given a report that their child has been able to handle many more sensory issues after working with neuro chiropractics.
