Guest guest
FEAT-Austin On-Line Registration (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) 123's of ABA Workshop This workshop is for individuals who have some training in basic ABA skills. Previous attendance at an ABC's of ABA or similar workshop is strongly recommended. It is assumed that attendees will be able to demonstrate delivering reinforcers, shaping, prompting, errorless learning, fading, chaining, and differential reinforcement, which are all covered in the ABC workshop. This workshop will teach practical applications of ABA techniques for gaining and maintaining an individual's attention. It is very difficult to teach someone anything if they will not attend to you, they are actively avoiding you, they are aggressive toward you, or you are having trouble just catching them. It is also hard to teach someone when all the teaching interactions are aversive to the instructor and the student. This workshop teaches a collection of specific procedures which behavior analysts have found to be consistently effective in working with a variety of challenging clients and behaviors. Lecture, video, role-play, and handouts will be used to teach participants the effective use of reinforcement, pairing, penny board token systems, activity book programs, and behavior momentum strategies to address aggression, maintaining attention, motivation, hyper-activity, and prompt dependency.
