Guest guest
Sherry, I am glad your knee surgery went well...things will get better. ..One of these days  have to do something about my left knee...hurts like crazy! '' The reason I am very sad is because my 18yr. old moved out and on to the campus of the University of Toledo. I know that it is just across town but it feels like he moved so far away. '' I know exactly how you feel... My daughter went to The University of Iowa...a good 4 hour drive...Missed her a lot.... but every once in a while, maybe every month?? or 6 weeks my husband and I would get up early on a Sat., drive to see her, take her out to lunch, grocery shop or whatever, and then have to go back home...very hard...but we kind of got used to it and had to accept it, after all we both had our turn and went away to school....then,she met a guy and after graduation, she said they were getting married...now Sally, my daughter was from Chicago, and Tom, her boyfriend was from Harland Iowa...the other side of Iowa (west)...Iowa City was about the middle of their home towns..when they said they were getting married and moving west, I thought...a western suburb of Chicago?? ok, I can handle it... However, I was a bit off in my calculations...it was more like 2116 miles west....to Oregon!!!  Where the h-ll is Oregon I thought!! (j.k.)...Well, there goes my daughter..off to Portland Oregon with her husband..no jobs to go to..just went on a whim..2 days after getting married. ...they both found good jobs ..he in computers and she was a head Athletic Trainer for a college there..(then she went back to school and is now a nurse-another story)..however....my son and her were very close and he missed her a lot....yep, being the adventurous 20 year old, he announced, he doesn't care for the Midwest and he upped and moved to Portland..again I say,'Where the h-ll is Oregon!!? and why is everyone moving there??'' Soooooo, to make a long story a bit shorter (lol) both of my kids are 2116 miles away, both are now married, and all are doing great!!..except the ones left behind who miss them A LOT... So I know what you mean when you say that when your son moved out to campus and you are sad...We do visit them about 2 times a year but my husband has blood clots and one time when we were there, we had to go to the e.r. because he got one in his leg...and last time, in May, we were there, I was sooo tired and not feeling well, I ended up in the hospital 2 times..so it is really hard to fly there (4 hours straight flight if lucky) and expensive...we were thinking about going there for Thanksgiving, but it would cost $880.00 r.t. for the both of us!! YUCKO!!  My only consolation is that we don't have to pay for hotels when we go there for vacation.. Take care Diane..
