Guest guest
I know it's not an advocacy topic, but I would love to hear what products you've personally had success with on the GFCF diet and where you buy them locally. I shop at 3 different places each week in Houston to find everything I need, and during our stay in Austin thanks to Hurricane Ike, I really was scrambling. I've also tried some online items without much success. All the doughnuts and bread we've tried are pretty yucky. I pack the same thing everyday for my son's lunch and we have 2 or 3 dinners he enjoys, so I was wondering what the other kids like who are on this diet. I would really like to cut out some of the sugar (Kinnickinnik is loaded) and get some more greens in there...Here's my son's list: Breakfast: Kinnickinnik Chocolate Chip Muffins (Health food stores - Ranch Creek or All Total Health) Lunch: 1 organic banana (Whole Foods= " WF " ), Lay's Wavy potato chips, box of GF raisins (Wal-Mart brand specifically says gluten-free since some brands dust with flour to keep the raisins from sticking together), Kinnickinnik chocolate chip cookies (Health food stores - Ranch Creek or All Total Health), Applegate hot dogs (WF), organic grapes (Wal-Mart believe it or not), organic baby carrots (either WF or WM). Dinner: My son's favorite is spaghetti: organic ground beef (WF), Newman's Own Organic Marinara (WM or WF), DeBoles corn spaghetti (WF). Another " tolerable meal " is organic chicken strips, organic green beans (Del-Monte canned from WM), tater tots (WF). Another thing I'm curious about is what supplements you give your child? I know each child is different but I've had some great success with these from Whole Foods: Methyl B12, multivitamins (Gummies), calcium bears, and echinicea. Unfortunately, if it doesn't taste good and is not chewable, forget it! We've found tablets hidden behind the furniture where my son has thrown them to avoid taking them. Pretty clever, but also very expensive! Thanks for your feedback. I'm ready for some new ideas! -Sandy
